Final day
Ura shoved Ohsho while falling to secure a majority win. Tobizaru kicked Takanosho twide, then pushed him out for his 10th win. Tobizaru was limping after the bout. Tamawashi pushed out Takayasu to win his 13th bout a win the Emperor's Cup. Daieisho drove down Hokutofuji out the ring. Hokutofuji took his 5th loss. Wakatakakage quickly forced Sadanoumi out for his 11th win. Wakamotoharu smoothly beat Mitakeumil It's Wakamotoharu's 10th win. Takakeisho pushed out Shodai for his 10th win. Tamawashi celebrated his 2nd Emperor Cup victory at 37 years old 10 months.

14th day
Tamawashi pushed down Tobizaru to win his 12th bout to keep the lead. Wakatakakage forced out Hokurofuji . Both are 10-4. Takayasu drove out Hoshoryu for his 11th win. Takakeisho forced down Nishikifuji with his left. Endo drove out Mitakeumi. Shodai quickly forced out Takarafuji. Both are 4-10.

13th day
Tochinoshin gave a powerful throw to beat Okinoumi. It's the Georgian's 5th win. Tamawashi forced Nishikifuji on his belly to earn his 11th win. Hokutofuji thrust down Tobizaru for his 10th win. Takayasu forced Kiribayama on his hand and knee to win his 10th bout. Shodai pushed out Mitakeumi for his 3rd win. It's Mitakeumi's 9th loss. Wakatakakage shifted to the side to prompt Takakeisho to fall. It's the ozeki's 5th loss and Wakatakakage's 9th win. Tamawashi remains the sole leader.

12th day
Wakamotoharu drove out Tamawashi. Tamawashi took his 2nd loss. Tobizaru pushed out Nishikifuji. Both are 9-3. Takayasu drove down Wakatakakage to win his 9th bout. Hoshoryu threw Shodai by the neck. Takakeisho shifted position to prompt Hokutofuji to fall. The ozeki secured a majority win. Mitakeumi and Nishikigi had to fight twice after a tie. Mitakeumi in the 2nd try, drove down Nishikigi. The sole leader is still Tamawashi.

11th day
Myogiryu threw Takayasu. The former ozeki took his 3rd loss. Tamawashi pushed out Hokutofuji for his 10th win. Tobizaru and Ura performed an exciting bout last for over a minute. In the end, Tobizaru threw Ura. Wakatakakage pushed out Hoshoryu to secur a majority win. Takakeisho managed to put Nishikigi off and win. Mitakeumi fell to Satanoumi's thrust to face a majority loss. With this loss, Mitakeumi's will fall from ozeki ranking in the next grand tourney. Shodai managed to force Wakamotoharu out at the verge of the ring to win his 2nd bout. Tamawashi is the sole leader.

10th day
Terunofuji pulled out as his knees were too bad to continue to fight. Takayasu forced Hokutofuji to fall on his knee. Takayasu secured a majority win while Hokutofuji took his first loss. Wakatakakage threw Ura to win his 7th bout. Tamawashi forced Mitakeumi down for his 9th win. Shodai lost again this time to Ichinojo. Hoshoryu forced Takakeisho to fall on his back. It's the ozeki's 4th loss. Hokufuji and Tamawashi tie for the lead.

9th day
Hokutofuji pushed down Wakamotoharu for his 9th win. Tamawashi forced down Meisei to clinch a majority win. Ura forced Shodai down. Shodai succumbed to a majority loss. Takakeisho was taken charge, but he in the end fell on his rear in the bout against Kiribayama. Both are 6-3. Daieisho pushed out Mitakeumi. Terunofuji struggled against Takayasu and in the end lost to a push out. It's the yokozuna's 4th loss.

8th day
Hokutofuji forced out Endo to clinch a majority win. Tamawashi pushed out Sadanoumi for his 7th win. Hoshoryu attacked Ura. Ura fought back and drove out the former Asashoryu's nephew. Takayasu had control of the bout against Takakeisho. In the end, Takakeisho thrust Takayasu down. Both are 6-2. Daieisho easily drove out Shodai. Shodai faced his 7th loss. Terunofuji threw Nishikigi to win his 5th bout.

7th day
Hokutofuji pushed out Takanosho. Takayasu drove out Endo for his 6th win. Wakatakakage forced down Tamawashi who succumbed to his first loss. Kiribayama forced out Mitakeumi. It's the ozeki's 4th loss. Shodai easily lost to Nishikigi. Takakeisho attacked Ura with thrusts and drove Ura out and off the ring. Terunofuji quicky drove out Ichinojo for his 4th win. Hokutofuji is the sole leader.

6th day
Hokutofuji pushed out Nishikifuji for his 6th win. Meisei pushed out Shodai. Takakeisho fell forward to Tamawashi's shove. Mitakeumi pushed forward but as he pushed Kotonowaka, he fell. The refrees ruled Mitakeumi the loser. Terunofuji fought cautiously against Ura. Ura was cautious too, then went into the yokozuna and drove him out. Terunofuji succumbed to his 3rd loss. Hokutofuji and Tamawashi are the two leaders.

5th day
Hokutofuji pushed out Kotoeiko and won his 5th bout. Takayasu pushed out Wakamotoharu. Both are 4-1. Takakeisho slapped Meisei and drove him out the ring for his 4th win. Mitakeumi forced down Ura for his 3rd win. Kotonowaka quickly pushed out Shodai. It's Shodai's 4th loss. Tamawashi attacked Terunofuji with shoves and pushed out the yokozunafor his 5th win. It's Terunofuji's 2nd loss.

4th day
Wakamotoharu gave Endo thrusts and won his 4th bout. Takayasu threw Nishikigi and won his 3rd bout. Ura ducked under Takarafuji's arm to topple him. It was a rare kill which gave Ura his 3rd win. Tobisaru get up fighting and drove out Mitakeumi. Both are 2-2. Tamawashi pushed out Shodai who succumbed to his 3rd loss. Takakeisho tried to slap Kotonowaka many times which seemed to have put Kotonowaka in a daze. The ozeki won his 3rd bout. Terunofuji got hold of Meisei under his arms and forced him out.

3rd day
Tochinoshin drove out Kotoeiko for his 2nd win. Takayasu forced Sadanoumi down and won his 2nd bout. Hoshoryu hooked his leg and forced Ichinojo to fall to win his 2nd bout. Ura shifted position to prompt Daieisho to fall. It's Ura's 2nd win. Midorifuji attacked Shodai and won. Takakesho gave powerful shoves to defeat Tobizaru to win his 2nd bout. Mitakeumi was pushed out by Meisei. Terunofuji pushed out Kotonowaka.

2nd day
Takakeisho thrust down Midorifuji for his first win. Mitakefuji managed to push out Ichinojo. Kirbayama chased Shodai and drove the ozeki out. Terunofuji struggle against Tobizaru. Tobizaru went low into the yokozuna and drove him out

First day
Georgian Tochinoshin forced down Oonosho. Another former ozeki Takayasu pushed out Takarafuji. Ura lost to Nishikigi's push out. Kotonowaka forced out Wakatakakage. Mitakeumi gave a powerful shove to push out Midorifuji. Shodai forced out Tobizaru. Ichinojo drove out Takakeisho. Terunofuji struggled against Kiribayama. He could not get hold of Kiribayama's belt while Kiribayaha had his hands on the yokozuna's belt. But gradually, the yokozuna positioned himself better and pushed Kiribayama out.

Kipusan is promoted to the juryo division this tourney, the first from Kazahstan to be promoted to sekitori or a high ranking sumo wrestler. He stands 1.92 meter tall, and his hair has not grown enough for a fan shaped hairdo.
