The bout of Hokuseiho and Midorifuji had to be stopped after it exceeded 3 minutes, as a rule.
The bout was resumed with the 2 returning to the same position when it was stopped.
They stood idle, but Midorifuji lost patience, kicked Hokuseiho, and fell first on the dirt.
Hokuseiho was given an overarm throw win in a total 6 minutes 40 seconds bout.

Shodai had to fight Tobizaru for the 2nd time and lost balance to Tobizaru's movement.

Terunofuji pulls out again
Terunofuji has not recovered from a back problem. He withdrew for the 3rd consecutive time from the grand tourney.
In total it will be the 19th grand tourney he would miss.
As a yokozuna this will be his 8th grand tourney withdrawal.
Former Asashio passes
On Nov 2, former ozeki Asashio died at the age of 67.
He was a popular ozeki for being friendly and charming.
As a stable master he raised Mongolian Asashoryu to become yokozuna.
He died from cancer.
