Final day
Aoiyama thrust down Kotoshoho for his 10th win. Sadanoumi forced Tatakamosho down. Both finished 11-4. Daieisho gave thrusts then pulled back to drive down Shimanoumi. It's Daieisho's 11th win. Watatakakage fought aggressively against Abe and won his 9th bout. Takaeisho move forward, kicked Shodai then thrust Shodai down to secure a majority win. Terunofuji forced out Mitakeumi. With this win, Terunofuji won the Emperor's Cup for the 7th time.

14th day
Wakamotoharu and Ichiyamamoto fought a close bout, throwing eachother. The bout was given to Wakamotoharu who won his 9th bout. Tamawashi drove out Tochinoshin from the side. Both are 8-6. Takanosho forced Kiribayama to touch the dirt. It's Takanosho's 11th win. Daieisho thrust down Sadanoumi. Both are 10-4. Takakeisho quickly pushed out Mitakeumi. Mitakeumi succumbed to a majority loss. Terunofuji was quick in getting Shodai's belt to force him out. Terunofuji and Takanosho tie for the lead.

13th day
Bulgarian Aoiyama pushed out Shimanoumi for his 9th win. Kiribayama got hold of Tochinoshin's belt and drove out the Georgian for his 9th win. Daieisho also won his 9th bout by thrusting down Ichiyamamoto. Sadanoumi in an aggressive bout foced down Hoshoryu for his 10th win. Takanosho touched the dirt first in the bout against Wakatakakage. Mitakeumi drove out Shodai. Shodai succumbed to a majority loss, and could lose his ozeki ranking in the next tourney is he fails to win a majority again. Terunofuji and Takakeisho fought skillfully. Takakeisho at one point stopped and clapped his hands in front of the yokozuna. But in the end Terunofuji forced down the ozeki. Terunofuji, Sadanoumi and Takanosho lead.

12th day
Tochinoshin drove out Myogiryu to secure a majority win. Takanosho quickly pushed out Ichiyamamoto to improve his record to 10 wins and to keep the lead. Shodai pushed out Tobizaru. Mitakeumi lost to Abi. Terunofuji took long in the bout against Abi but in the end, picked him up then drove his out the ring.

11th day
Tochinoshin managed to drive out Azumaryu for his 7th win. Ichiyamamoto collapsed on the dirt, and lost to Shimanoumi. Sadanoumi forced down Wakamotoharu to secure a majority win. Ura drove out the big Aoiyama to win his 8th bout. So did Kiribayama secure a majority win against Tobizaru. Takanosho forced a throw on Hoshoryu to win his 9th bout. Takatakakage struggled but in the end drove out Mitakeumi. It's the ozeki's 6th loss. Takakeisho thrust out Endo. Shodai managed to force down Tamawashi. Teruofuji pushed out Abi. Takanosho is the sole leader.

10th day
Ichiyamamoto beat Kotoshoho to clinch a majority win. Ura drove won Nishikigi for his 7th win. Takanosho pushed out Endo to secure his majority win. Hokutofuji went low than attacked Takakeisho and drove the ozeki out. It's Takakeisho's 5th loss. Wakatakakage drove out Shodai for his 5th win. Mitakeumi forced Tobizaru down for his 5th win. Terunofuji shoved and shoved and forced down Hoshoryu. The top contenders are Ichiyamamoto and Takanosho.

9th day
The top contenders, Sadanoumi, Ichiyamamoto and Aoiyama all won. Ura pushed out Okinoumi for his 6th win. Shodai pushed out Abi for his 3rd win. Mitakeumi was powerless, forced out by Takanosho. Wakatakakage drove down Takakeisho for his 4th win. Terunofuji picked up Tobizaru and carried him out the ring to win his 6th bout.

8th day
The top contenders Sadanoumi lost to Ichiyamamoto. Aoiyama lost to Wakamotoharu. As to the high rankers, Mitakeumi forced down Endo for his 4th win. Takakeisho forced down Daieisho for his 5th win. Shodai managed to drive down Hoshoryu. Terunofuji stepped out the ring before throwing Takanosho succumbing to his 3rd loss. Sadanoumi, Ichiyamamoto and Aoiyama ties with 2 loses each.

7th day
The sole leader Aoiyama lost to Sadanoumi's push out succumbing to his first loss. Sadanoumi is also 6-1. Tochinoshin after 3 straight losses continues to win by defeated Kotoeiko. Ura pushed out Terutsuyoshi for his 4th win. Takayasu managed to push out Kotonowaka for his 2nd win. Wakatakakage fell losing his 4th bout in the fight against Kiribayama. Takakeisho quickly pushed out Tamawashi for his 4th win. Shodai weakly lost to Hokutofuji. Mitakeumi gave in to Daieisho's shoves taking his 4th loss. Terunofuji tried a throw by taking Endo's arm. Endo withstood. In the end, the yokozuna thrust down Endo for his 5th win. Aoiyama and Sadanoumi tie for the lead.

6th day
The two with perfect performance so far faced eachother. Bulgarian Aoiyama thrust down Ichiyamamoto. Tochinoshin gave a powerful shove to drive down Chiyoshoma for his 3rd win. Tobizaru won without fighting as his opponent Oonosho pulled out from broken ribs from the previous day's bout. Wakatakakage forced Takayasu out from behind. Shodai lost to Takanosho. Mitakeumi quickly forced a throw on Hokutofuji to win. Takakeisho falls in the bout against Abi. Tamawashi pushed out Terunofuji. The sole leader is Aoiyama.

5th day
In the lower ranking of makunouchi, Ichiyamamoto drove down Ouho to win his 5th bout. Tobizaru took his first loss pushed down by Shimanoumi. Takayasu lost in an over a minute bout against Kiribayama. It's his 4th loss. Daieisho gave thrusts to defeat Abi for his 4th win. Hoshoryu quickly drove down Wakatakakage. Mitakeumi fell in the bout against Tamawashi. Takakeisho forced down Oonosho. Shodai easily lost to Endo for his 4th loss. Terunofuji forced Hokutofuji to do a split on the dirt.

4th day
Tochinoshin lifted Takarafuji slightly and drove him out for his first win. Ura went low and drove out Kotoshoho for his 3rd win. Tobizaru pushed out Kotoeiko for his 4th win. Daieisho forced down Wakatakakage. Takakeisho shoved Hoshoryu's shoulder, forcing the Mongolian down. It's the ozeki's 2nd win. Shodai managed to shift position to drive out Takayasu and win his first bout. Mitakeumi struggled against Kiribayama but at the verge of the ring managed to force Kiribayama out to win his 2nd bout. Terunofuji got hold of Kotonowaka's belt and drove him out. It's the yokozuna's 3rd win.

3rd day
Wakatakakage this time forced Endo down for his 2nd win. Daieisho shoved forward to drive Shodai out. Shodai has yet to win a bout. Kotonowaka and Mitakeumi fought a close bout. It appeared Mitakeumi gave a throw, but the judges ruled Mitakeumi was hurled helplessly, giving the bout to Kotonowaka. Takayasu forced down Takakeisho to win his first bout. Terunofuji took time in his bout against Kiribayama. The yokozuna slowly got hold of Kiribayama's belt and forced him down.

2nd day
Ura won his first bout by pushing out Takarafuji. Wakatakakage went low against Tamawashi but was thurst down and lost the bout. Mitakeumi was pushed out by Hoshoryu. Takakeisho drove out Kiribayama. Kotonowaka forced down Shodai. It's Shodai's 2nd loss. Terunofuji fought cautiously against Takayasu, caught his arm to forced him down.

First day
Last tourney champion Wakatakakage forced out Hokutofuji. Kotonowaka pushed out Takakeisho. Shodai was weak, giving in to Kiribayama's shoves. Mitakeumi pushed out Takayasu, with both falling into fans. Terunofuji was back after missing the last tourney. Daieisho pushed out the yokozuna.

Ichinojo test positive for COVID-19
Japan Sumo Association announces on May 2, that Ichinojo will pull out from the May tourney. Earlier there were rikishi from his stable who tested positive.
