Final day
Hokutofuji forced Nishikigi on his hand to win his 12th bout. Kotonowaka drove out Raiden for his 11th win. Asanoyama got hold of Wakamotoharu's belt and forced him out to secure a majority win. Kirishima lost to Abi. Hoshoryu gave Hakuouho a throw to forced the 19 year old on his hand. As a result a run off took place between Hoshoryu and Hokutofuji. Hoshoryu pushed out Hokutofuji to win the Emperor's Cup for the first time. As a result he is expected to be named ozeki.

14th day
Hakuouho faced Hokutofuji. In a long bout, Hokutofuji pushed but the 19 year old on the verge of the ring stayed in while forcing Hokutofuji out. Ryuden threw Nishikigi and won. Both are 10-4. Tobizaru forced out Chiyoshoma from behind to secure a majority win. Wakamotoharu tried to shift position to face off, but Hoshoryu got hold of a better position and threw Wakamotoharu to win his 11th bout. Daieisho forced down Oonosho for his 9th win. Oonosho succumbed to a majority loss. Asanoyama threw Kirishima with his right and won his 7th bout. The new ozeki succumbed to a majority loss.

13th day
Hokutofuji drove out Endo for his 11th win. Asanoyama got hold of Shodai's belt and took him out to win his 6th bout. Hakuouho was amazing. He forced Nishikigi down on his back. They are both 10-3. Wakamotoharu forced down Daieisho for his 9th win. Kirishima struggled against Hoshoryu then was forced out. Hokutofuji is the sole leader.

12th day
Shonannoumi threw Nishikigi who succumbed to his 2nd loss. Shonannoumi secured a majority win. Asanoyama was back after a 4 day absence. He forced Tobizaru down on his rear to win his 5th bout. Kotonowaka threw Endo with his right to secure a majority win. Hakuohho and Abi fought an aggressive bout which Hakuoohho won with a push out and earned his 9th win. Abi succumbed to a majority loss. Daieisho fell to Tamawashi's thrust to lose his 4th bout. Hokutofuji pushed out Hoshoryu to win his 10th bout. Kirishima fought quickly and forced Wakamotoharu out the ring. Nishikigi and Hakutofuji are tied for the lead.

11th day
Nishikigi quickly drove out Endo for his 10th win. Hoshoryu pushed out Tamawashi for his 9th win. Wakamotoharu forced out Hokutofuji and secured a majority win. Hokutofuji lost his 2nd bout. Kirishima forced Daieisho to fall forwards. The ozeki won his 4th bout. Nishikigi is the sole leader.

10th day
Endo pushed out Chiyoshoma to secure a majority win. Hokutofuji forced Tamawashi to slip and fall to win his 9th bout. Nishikigi drove down Meisei fo his 9th win. Oonosho forced out Wakamotoharu who took his 3rd loss. Daieisho gave thrusts then pulled away and forced down Hiradoumi to secure a majority win. Kotonowaka took control with shoves and forced out Hoshoryu. Kirishima struggled against Ura but in the end drove him out for his 4th win.

9th day
Hokutoumi pushed out Ohho to secure a majority win. Nishikigi did too by driving out Mitakeumi. Daieisho pushed out Abi for is 7th win. Hoshoryu threw Hiradoumi for a majority win. Wakamotoharu threw Ura to win his 7th bout. Meisei attacked Kirishima. The ozeki managed to drive him down and win his 3rd bout.

8th day
Hokutoriki pushed out Takayasufor his 7th win. Nishikigi drove out Tobizaru in a close bout also to win his 7th bout. Hoshoryu forced Ura down for his 7th win. Daieisho did not have to fight to win as Asanoyama pulled back with an injury. Wakamotoharu had a bad start but was able to forced Kotonowaka out for his 6th win. Kirishima's bout had to be stopped for over 2 minutes as the refree tried to tie his belt. In the end his foot slipped out of the ring. Midorifuji won. The new ozeki succumbed ao his 2nd loss, after 4 days of absence.

7th day
Hokutofuji thrust down Tsurugisho to win his 6th bout. Takayasu touched the dirt to lose the bout against Nishikifuji. It's his 2nd loss. Nishikigi was driven out by Kotonowaka taking his first loss. Wakamotoharu thrust down Abi fo his 5th win. Daieisho gave thrusts after thrusts and managed to pushed down Ura for his 5th win. Hoshoryu gave Asanoyama a powerful throw to win his 6th bout. Mitakeumi got attacked Kirishima's throat and forced the new ozeki out. The former ozeki won his first bout.

6th day
Takayasu lot to Oonosho succumbing to his first loss. Asanoyama got hold of Ohho's belt and drove him out. Ura kept low and tried to kick Hokuseiho. In the end he got behind Hokuseiho and drove him out. It's Ura's 4th win. Nishikigi forced Abi out to be the only one with a clear record. Daieisho touched the dirt after Kotonowaka shifted his position taking his 2nd loss. Hoshoryu beat Midorifuji for his 5th win. Wakamotoharu thrust down Meisei. Kirishima drove down Shodai for his 2nd win.

5th day
Takayasu forced down Hiradoumi to keep his record clean. Popular Ura thrust out Ohho for his 3rd win. Tall Hokuseiho got a hold of former ozeki Asanoyama,and forced him out the ring. In a bout which went over 2 minutes, Midorifuji forced down Mitakeumi. The former ozeki does not have a win yet. Abi turned his back towards Hoshoryu and was forced out from behind. It's the Mongolian's 4th win. Nishikigi forced out Wakamotoharu to keep his record clean. Daieisho pushed to drive out Meisei for his 4th win. Ozeki Kirishima was driven out by Tobizaru.

4th day
Terunofuji withdrew from the tourney from this day, after injuring himself again in the previous day's bout. Shodai was automatically given a win. As to key bouts of the day, Takayasu forceddown Takanosho for his 4th win. Asanoyama was shoved to the verge of the ring by Oonosho but was able to throw in the end and win. Ura pushed out Meisei. Both are 2-2. Wakamotoharu forced Midorifuji on his belly to win. Daieisho fell on his hand in the bout against Nishikigi, losing his first bout. Hoshoryu drove out Mitakeumi. Kirishima for the first time fought as ozeki. He forced Kotonowaka out from behind to win his first bout afte 3 days of absence.

3rd day
Takayasu quickly forced down Hokseiho for his 3rd win. Ura drove Oonosho from behind to win his first bout. Asanoyama shoved and shoved to drive out Hiradoumi for his 2nd win. Daieisho powerfully drove Midorifuji out. Hoshoryu fell on his hand in the bout against Nishikigi to take his first loss. Wakamotoharu was pushed out by Shodai also losing his first bout. Terunofuji got a hold of Tobizaru's belt but as he fought, the belt loosened. In the end, he pulled back and lost. It's the yokozuna's 2nd loss. He was in bad form, he needed to hold on to his stable mate's shoulders to walk.

2nd day
Former ozeki Asanoyama threw Ura to win his first bout. Hoshoryu forced out Shodai. Wakamotoharu got hold of Tobizaru's belt and drove him out. Daieisho pushed out Mitakeumi. An upset in the final bout. Nishikigi forced Terunofuji to fall.

First day
19 year old new makuuchi, Hakuousho drives out Aoiyama. Takayasu is back and throws Ohho. Asanoyama is forced down by Meisei. Wakamotoharu drives down Mitakeumi. Daieisho pushed out Shodai. Nishikigi earned a win without fighting as his match was Kirishima who withdrew from the tourney. Hoshoryu forced Tobizaru to fall belly up and win. Terunofuji quickly pushed out Abi.

Pre Tourney highlights
Takakeisho is out
On Jul 7 it was announced the ozeki had damaged his knees and needed to rest for 3 months. This means he will not be able to fight this tourney.

Kiribayama renames himself as Kirishima
The Mongolian new ozeki succeeded the name of his stable master, former ozeki Kirishima. He paid respect at Kirishima Shrine in Kagoshima Prefecture. Earlier he went home to Mongolia to celebrate his promotion to ozeki. But he pulled out from the tourney.
