Takakeisho is ozeki
On Mar 27, messenger of the Japan Sumo Association conveyed to Takakeisho he had been elected ozeki. In response Takakeisho said he will put weight on the way of a bushi with thankfulness and kindness,and concentrate on the way of sumo. Takakeisho is the fastest ever since 1958 to be promoted to ozeki.

Final day
Hakuho defeated Kakuryu with an underarm throw to win his 15th tournament without a single defeat. The yokozuna was later under fire for doing a 3 beat clap which the association considered as not appropriate.

14th day
Kotoshogiku pushed out Yoshikaze for his 11th win. Aoiyama drove down Meisei for his 11th win. Takakesho went fast into Ichinojo. Ichiojo pulled away and drove down Takakeisho. Ichinojo won his 13th bout. Tochinoshin quickly pushed out Tamawashi for his 7th win. He needs one more win to remain ozeki. Hakuho and Takayasu took time to face off as they stared at eachother for a while. When they did, they fought hard against eachother. Takayasu tried a throw but was crushed by the yokozuna. Hakuho maintained his lead. Goeido quickly drove out Kakuryu. Toeido won his 11th bout while the yokozuna lost his 4th.

13th day
Meisei forced a throw on Kotoshogiku. The former ozeki succumbed to his 3rd loss. Aoiyama was driven out by Yoshikaze. Both are 10-3. Kaisei and Endo had to redo their bout after a no decision bout. Endo shoved out the Brazilian for his 5th win.It's Kaisei's 11th loss. Ichinojo forced Mitakeumi to fall to win his 12th bout. Tamawashi was powerless, pushed out by Chiyotairyu succumbing to a majority loss. Takakeisho pushed and pushed to drive out Takayasu. Kakuryu drove out Tochinoshin. Osaka fans were dismayed as their hometown hero, Goeido was forced out by Hakuho. Hakuho leads, follwed by Ichinojo.

12th day
Aoiyama thrust down Ryuden for his 10th win. Kotoshogiku also won his 10th bout by driving down Chiyotairyu. Ichinojo got hold of Asanoyama with his left than pushed down his head to win his 11th bout. Goeido drove down Takakeisho for his 10th win. Takakeisho lost his 4th bout. Hakuho did not have it easy but managed for force out Tochinoshin. Takayasu threw Kakuryu with his left to win his 10th bout.

11th day
Kotoshogiku pushed out Ishiura. Ichinojo forced another big guy Aoiyama down for his 10th win. Takayasu banged into Tochinoshin and drove down the Georgian for his 9th win. Goeido overpowered Chiyotairyu with thrusts to win. Kakuryu's bout with Tamawashi was a close call. The juries decided Tamawashi's hand hit the dirt first so the win went to the yokozuna. Takakeisho aggressively fought against Hakuho. In the end Hakuho threw him to keep his record clean. He leads followed by Ichinojo.

10th day
Aoiyama forced down Shohozan to win his 9th bout. Kotoshogiku drove out Oonosho to clinch a majority win. Goeido twisted Tochinoshin's arm to drive him down. He also secured a majority win. Takayasu went for Ichinojo's belt but the Mongolian forced him down. Ichinojo won his 9th bout. Hakuho turned his back towards Tamawashi, but reacted quickly to drive town the fellow Mongolian. Takakesho pushed forward and drove out Kakuryu to win his 8th bout. Hakuho keeps his lead followed by Ichinojo and Aoiyama.

9th day
Aoiyama beat Ikioi to secure a majority win. Kotoshogiku is almost there by pushing out Abi. Takakeisho and Chiyotairyu pushed eachother hard. In the end Takakeisho pulled away then thrust down his opponent. Ichinojo and Goeido played a competitive bout. But when Goeido tried to change his position, Ichinojo gave a throw and won. The Mongolian clinched a majority win. Takayasu did too by pushing out Tamawashi. Tochinoshin managed to force Shodai down. Kakuryu easily defeated Tochiozan to win his 8th bout. Hakuho slapped Mitakeumi then shoved him out to keep the lead.

8th day
Aoiyama forced down Sadanoumi for his 7th win. Kotoshogiku was driven out by Okinoumi taking his 2nd loss. Kaisei finally won a bout, it's by driving out Mitakeumi. Takakeisho gave 3 pushes to drive out Endo. Takayasu pushed out Shodai. Tochinoshin with his left drove out Ichinojo. It's Ichinojo's first loss. Goeido quickly forced Tamawashi out for his 7th win. Hakuho lost balance to Tochinozan's movement but managed to stay in the ring to drive Tochinozan out before falling. Hakuho is the only one with a perfect record and secured a majority win. Kakuryu pushed out Hokutoumi.

7th day
Kotoshogiku showed strength driving out Yago. Abi's thursts showed no effect against Ichinojo. The Mongolian forced down Abi for his 7th win. Takakaisho managed to thrust out Daieisho. Endo drove down Tochinoshin for his 2nd win. Goeido shoved out Mitakeumi from behind to win. Takayasu struggled against Hokutofuji but managed to drive him out to win his 6th bout. Kakuryu forced down Nishikigi. Hakuho pushed down Shodai to improve his record.

6th day
Aoiyama pushed hard, forcing Kotoshogiku to succumb to his first loss. Endo fell forward to Ichinojo's trust. The Monoglian continues his perfect streak. Takakeisho shoved Kaisei's back to win. Tamawashi pushed out Hokutoriki for his 3rd win. Goeido fell to Daieisho's shove succumbing to his first loss. Takayasu powerfully pushed out Myogiryu. Tochinoshin threw Mitakeumi for his 4th win. Hakuho got hold of Nishikigi's belt and force him out to keep his record clean. Kakuryu forced Shodai to roll on the dirt. It's the yokozuna's 5th win.

5th day
Kotoshogiku skillfully drove out Ikioi for his 5th win. Ichinojo immediately thrust down Oonosho. Takakeisho appeared to have given up in the end to Tamawashi's shoves and was pushed out. Takayasu forced out Nishiki. Tochinoshin got a hold of Kaisei's belt and drove out the Brazilian for his 3rd win. Goeido powerfully pushed down Shodai for his 5th win. Kakuryu was not fighting in a good position but managed to force Daieisho down the ring. Hakuho forced Myogiryu on his hand.

4th day
Kotoshogiku forced down Shohozan for his 4th win. Ichinojo threw Okinoumi for this 4th win. Takakeisho managed to push and push then forced Hokutofuji to touch the dirt. Tochinoshin put all his weight on Nishikigi to force him down. Goeido powerfully threw Kaisei for his 4th win. Takayasu pushed out Endo for his 3rd win. Hakuho had a close bout in which he managed to keep his one foot on the barrel, and another up in the air while forcing down Daieisho. It's the yokozuna's 4th win. Kakuryu withstood Myogiryu's attack on his throat, then forced him out to win his 3rd bout.

3rd day
Kotoshogiku drove out Asanoyama for his 3rd win. Takakeisho pulled back, allowing Mitakeumi to win. Goeido powerfully forced out Nishikigi. Takayasu was driven out by Daieisho. Hokutofuji pushed out Tochinoshin. Kakuryu shoved out Endo. Hakuho forced down Kaisei for his 3rd ein. 2nd day
Kotoshogiku forced out Takarafuji. Takakeisho pushed Nishikigi and easily won. Daieisho forced down Tamawashi. Takayasu and Mitakeumi fought a long almost 2 minute bout. In the end, the ozeki pushed out Mitakeumi who pulled away. Myogiryu pushed out Tochinoshin. It's the ozeki's first loss. Goeido forced out Hokutofuji. Hakuho struggled slightly against Endo but in the end, Endo turned his back towards the yokozuna and was driven out. Kakuryu got hold of Kaisei and forced the Brazilian out.

1st day
Former ozeki Terunofuji with both knees wrapped, appeared before a sad crowd. It's in the 2nd lowest division of jonidan. He drove down Wakanoguchi. Toyonoshima fought way up in makuuchi. He faced Terutsuyoshi and forced him down to win. Former ozeki Kotoshogiku pushed out Sadanoumi. Aoiyama drove down Abi. Last tourney winner Tamawashi pushed out Nishikigi. Takakeisho, who seem to be the most popular rikishi this tourney powerfully drove out Myogiryu. Tochinoshin pulled away and thrust down Daieisho. Goeido slapped Endo then drove him out. Takayasu struggled but managed to force out Kaisei. Mitakeumi forced Kakuryu his twirl around twice. Mitakeumi drove out the yokozuna. Hakuho immediately with his left forced down Hokutofuji.

A former ozeki to restart at the 2nd lowest division
Remember Terunofuji? The former Mongolian ozeki? He had an operation last July on both his knees. He's not quite ready to fight again, but he's starting from jonidan.

Toyonoshima is back in makuuchi
The 35 year former sekiwake fell to the makushita division after breaking his achilles. But he gradually moved act the ladder, returning to the top division after 16 tourneys below it.
