Final day
204cm Hokuseiho found for over 2 minutes against Ichiyamamoto, and managed to force his opponent out for his 9th win. Shodai got hold of Midorifuji and drove him out. Both finished the tourney with 10 wins 5 losses. Wakamotoharu forced down Kotonowaka for his 11th win. Takayasu threw Hoshoryu to win his 10th bout. Daieisho faced Kiribayama with a win lead. But he succumbed to Kiribayama's thrust. They went into a run off. Kiribayama forced Takekeisho down, out the ring. The Mongolian who fought as a new sekiwake son his first ever Emperor's Cup.

14th day
New makuuchi rikishi and the tallest, Hokuseiho threw Hiradoumi to clinch a majority win. Ura pushed out Azumaru for his majority win. Takayashu pushed out Kotoeiko for his 9th win. Shodai pushed out Daishoho for his 9th win. Daieisho gave thrust to drive out Midorifuji and keep the lead. Midorifuji is out of the race for the Emperor's Cup. Kiribayama automatically took his 11th win as his opponent Wakatakakage pulled out. Hoshoru gave Wakamotoharu a big throw. Both are 10-4.

13th day
Shodai drove out Ryuden to secure a majority win. Abi did too by driving out Tobizaru from behind. Daieisho gave thrusts and forced out Meisei for his 11th win. Wakamotoharu stopped Hokutoumi from pushing him and forced him out to win his 10th bout. Kiribiyama forced out Endo from behind him and won his 10th bout. Midorifuji was driven down by Hoshoryu and took his 3rd loss. Wakatakakage and Kotonowaka had to redo the bout. In the 2nd try, Waka easily drove out Koto. Daieisho is the sole leader.

12th day
Abi through Mitakeumi. Mitakeumi succumbed to a majority loss. Daieisho thrusted out Hokutofuji for his 10th win. Kotonowaka drove out Meisei for his 9th win. Wakamotoharu was able to defeat Endo for his 9th win. Shodai pushed hard to defeat Tobizaru for his 7th win. Tobizaru succumbed to a majority loss. Wakatakakage gave Midorifuji a throw. Midorifuji took his 2nd loss. Kiribayama forced Hoshoryu down for his 9th win. Daieisho tied with Midorifuji for the lead.

11th day
Mongolian, Chiyoshoma drove out Nishikifuji for a majority win. Shodai lost to Ura. Both are 6-5. Kotonowaka fell in the bout against Hokutofuji taking his 3rd loss. Wakamotoharu fought aggressively against Midorifuji and pushes him down. Midorifuji succumbed to his first loss. Daieisho pushed out Takayasu for his 9th win. Kiribayama forced down Meisei. Midorifuji lost but still is the solo leader. Daieisho follows.

10th day
Takayasu lost to Kinpozan's push out, succumbing to his 3rd loss. Endo managed to force down Shodai to secure a majority win. Midorifuji drove out Tobizaru to keep his record clean. Kotonowaka pushed down Abi to clinch a majority win. Kiribayama forced Mitakeumi out. Hoshoryu got hold of Daieisho and drove him out. Daieisho took his 2nd loss. Midorifuji leads with a perfect record. Following his are rikishi with 2 losses.

9th day
Takayasu pushed out Aoiyama for his 7th win. Midorifuji forced down Ura for his 9th win to keep the lead. Endo drove out Hiradoumi for his 7th win. Mitakeumi pulled away and thrust down Nishikigi for his 4th win. Daieisho gave thrusts to force out Tamawashi and secure a majority win. Tamawashi succumbed to a majority loss. Kotonowaka pushed down Shodai for his 7th win. Ryuden succumbed to a majority loss defeated by Kiribayama.

8th day
In a fierce bout, Takayasu lost to Hiradoumi for his 2nd loss. Midorifuji drove out Aoiyama to be the first to secure a majority win. Daieisho pushed out Abi for his 7th win. Kotonowaka pushed down Tamawashi for his 6th win. Shodai forced down Wakamotoharu as the former ozeki himself fell. Hoshoryu shifted his position slightly and drove down Mitakeumi. It's the former ozeki's 5th loss. Midorifuji continues to lead.

7th day
Takakeisho pulled out from this tourney due to an injury incurred on the 3rd day. His chance to become yokozuna has been shattered. As to the major bouts of the day, Takayasu could not attack Midorifuji hard enough and fell. It's Takayasu's first loss. Midorifuji kept his record clean. Meisei drove Mitakeumi down. Shodai pushed out Abi for his 5th win. Tobisaru managed to force down Tamawashi for his 4th win. Daieisho succumbed to his first loss in the bout against Wakamotoharu. Midorifuji is the leader.

6th day
Takayasu forced down Ichiyamamoto with his right to win his 6th bout. Midorifuji forced down Endo for his 6th win. Shodai drove Tamawashi down for his 4th win. Daieisho pulled back and Kotonowaka fell forward. Oonosho could not keep up with Hoshoryu's shift and fell to succumb to his 2nd loss. Wakatakakage forced out Ryuden to win his first bout. Takakeisho was pushed out by Mitakeumi taking his 3rd loss.

5th day
Takayasu gave thrusts and drove down Ura for his 5th win. Daieisho went straight into Shodai and forced the former ozeki out. It's Daieisho's 5th win. The judges ruled, Wakatakakage's knee bent and touched the dirt befor forcing down Mitakeumi, so the bout was given to the former ozeki. Oonosho forced Kiribayama to lose balance and fall to win his 4th bout. Takakeisho charged into Ryuden and pushed him out to win his 3rd bout.

4th day
Ura charged too low, prompting Myogiryu to thrust him down and take his first loss. Takayasu gave thrusts to drive out Kotoshoho and win his 4th bout. Daieisho attacked Mitakeumi non-stop and forced the former ozeki out for his 4th win. Tobizaru is forced to touch the dirt to lose the bout to Ryuden. It's his first loss. Shodai pushed out Wakatakakage who has no wins yet. Takakeisho lost balance and was forced down by Abi.

3rd day
Takayasu attacked Sadanoumi and drove him out for his 3rd win. Mitakeumi won his first bout by driving out Wakamotoharu. Tobizaru continues to fight well by thrusting down Nishikido. Daieisho gave thrusts and forced out Ryuden for his 3rd win. Takakeisho pushed out Shodai for his 2nd win. But after the bout, the ozeki was seen dragging his leg.

2nd day
Popular Ura pushed out Aoiyama for his 2nd win. Former ozeki Takayasu drove down Endo for his 2nd win. Mitakeumi lost to Tobizaru's shove. The former ozeki lost his 2nd bout alread. Shodai pushed down Kiribayama for his 2nd win. Takakeisho attacked Tamawashi and won with a push out.

First day
Kotonowaka grabbed Mitakeumi's belt and drove the former ozeki out. Kiribayama pushed out Abi. Former ozeki Shodai attacked Hoshoryu's throat and won with a push out. Wakatakakage and Tamawashi fought a competitive bout. Wakatakakage fell and lost as Tamawashi left the ring. Takakeisho fell to Tobizaru's thrust.

Terunofuji pulls out 4 tourneys in a row
Terunofuji appeared to be committed to finally fight again. But it's been decided he should pull out from his deformed knees and diabetes.

Former ozeki does not make it back to makuuchi
Asanoyama who lost his ranking in 2021 for violating COVID-19 rules, won the juryo division in the New Year tourney. But he was not given a place in makuuchi. He has to fight another tourney as juryo rikishi.
