Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden was constructed on the site of a private mansion belonging to Lord Naito, a 'daimyo'(feudal lord) of the Edo period.
It was re-designated as a national garden and opened to the public in 1949.
Shinjuku Gyoen is an ideal place in the city to get close to nature and enjoy the changing seasons.
Many people visit the garden for seeing cherry blossoms at the end of March to the beginning of April.
The roof garden of the department store Takashimaya Times Square at Minami-Shinjuku, is a good unknown spot for panorama-viewing.
Here you can get the whole view of Shinjuku Gyoen turned pink with the cherry blossoms.
Listen carefully the noise of cherry-blossom parties in the woods.
The skyline with many high-rises at the center of Tokyo can be seen beyond Shinjuku Gyoen.
You can also see NTT DoCoMo Yoyogi building with a sharp point on your right.
(Sorry the top of the building is out of the picture.)
