KAZUHISA ISHII WITH THE NEW YORK METS IN 2005

Ishii back in Japan
After becoming a free agent, Ishii returned to Japan, and met various team representative. On Jan 20, he tied the knot with his former team, the Swallows. It's a 2-year contract for 250 million yen annually.

July 26
Ishii lost a run in the first inning. He later gave up a 2 run. In all he pitched 5 0/3 inning,, and gave up 4 runs. The Mets lost 3 to 4 against the Colorado Rockies and Ishii lost his 9th game.

July 21
Ishii pitched 6 innings and did not lose any runs. He earned his 3rd win of the season in a 12 to 0 game against the San Diego Padres.

June 29
Ishii suddenly lost control in the 4th inning. He walked 3, and gave up 5 runs that inning. He took his 7th loss in a 3 to 6 game against the Philadelphia Phillies.

June 23
Ishii pitched 6 2/3 innings this time and lost 3 runs. But his team was ahead and won 4 to 3 over the Philadelphia Phillies. Ishii earned his 2nd win.

June 17
Ishii faced the Seattle Mariners' Ichiro for the first time in the U.S. Ichiro started off with a base hit. In the 2nd inning, Ichiro blasted off a 3 run homer. Ishii, in all gave up 5 runs in 5 /3 innings and lost the game 0 to 5.

June 5
Ishii helped himself with the bat. In the 2nd inning, he batted in a run. Pitching wise, he did well. But in the 6th inning, he lost runs. He succumbed to his 4th loss in a 3 to 6 game against the S.F. Giants.

May 28
Ishii this time pitched well. He also hit in a run in the 4th inning. Pitching 6 2/3 innings, he gave up only a run, and gained his first win with the Mets in the 6 to 1 game against the Florida Marlins.

May 23
Ishii already gave up 4 runs in the 2nd inning. And in the 4th, he lost a 3 run home run. The Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 6 to 8.

May 17
Ishii was finally back as a starter, after recovering from his injury. He pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up only a run. When he left the mound, his team was behind the Cincinnatti Reds, but Kazuo Matsui's home run helped his team win 2 to 1.

Apr 18
Ishii was already giving up runs in the first inning. He pitched in all, 5 inning, and lost 5 runs. The Mets lost to the Philidephia Phillies 4 to 5 and Ishii took his 2nd loss.

Apr 13
Ishii pitched against Roger Clemens of the Houston Astros. He said he tried to be competitive against the star pitcher. And he was able to pitch 7 innings, without giving up a run. He also struck out 5. But since his team couldn't score until only after he was off the mound, he was not given a win.His team in the end won 1 to 0.

Apr 7
In his first start of the season, and with the Mets, Ishii hurled 6 1/3 innings. But he gave up 6 runs. And he had to take the loss for the 1 to 6 game against the Cincinnatti Reds.

Ishii joins the Mets
On Mar 20, Ishii himself formally announced that he was joining the NY Mets. And the next day, he introduced his new uniform with number 23.
