Matsui continues to bat well. In the 2nd inning, he doubled. In the 3rd, he hit himself on base. He tried to come home on Jorge Posada's hit but was killed. He also had a base hit in the 4th inning. His team unfortunately lost to the Texas Rangers 5 to 6.

At last Matsui had multiple hits. It's two base hits. The Yankees however lost to the Chicago White Sox in a 10 inning game 1 to 2.

In the 2nd inning, Matsui doubled. He came home on Jason Giambi's hit. In the 8th, he had an infield hit. The Yankees failed, however, to beat the Cleveland Indians in a 4 to 7 game.

In the 8th inning, Matsui hit in a run. The game went into extra innings. In the 11th, Matsui tripled, and came home on Tony Womack's bat, and the Yankees beat the LA Angels again 8 to 7.

Matsui contributed to the team's victory. In the 9th inning, with bases loaded, he hit in 2 runners home. The game finished 8 to 7 against the LA Angels.

July 28
Matsui had a base hit, and also extended a consecutive game appearance record in the MLB to 425--a new record. The Yankees beat the Minnesota Twins in this game 6 to 3.

Matsui was extraordinary In the 3rd inning, he batted in a run. In the 7th, with his team behind, he blasted a 2 run home run to clinch a lead from the Chicago Cubs. In the 9th, he furthered the lead by hitting home 2 runners. The Yankees won 9 to 6.

Still appearing as a designated hitter, Matsui, in the first inning drove in a 2 run home run. The Yankees defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6 to 1.

June 15
Matsui batted well again. In the 7th inning he had a 2 base hit, and eventually came home. At that point the Yankees were still behind. In the 8th inning, he hit home a runner. After that, the Yankees equalized. And in the 10th inning, Jason Giambi finished the game with a home run to give the Yankees a 7 to 5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

June 14
Good news! Matsui was in the game as a designated hitter. And he was incredible. He slammed a home run. Then in the 4th inning, he hit himself to first. On Jorge Posada's hit, he came home from 2nd, despite his injured leg. The Yankees defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 9 to 0.

June 12
Matsui fell when he was trying to catch a ball in the 7th inning. He had to get help, and retired from the game. Medical check-up showed that he did not fracture his bone, but he has a sprained right leg. Fans worry that his consecutive game appearance record may be halted.

June 11
In the 4th inning, Matsu hit in a runner with a double. The bottom of that inning, he directly hurled the ball from outfield back home and killed a runner. In the 9th inning, he had a base hit. He contributed to a 5 to 0 game against the St Louis Cardinals.

June 4
Matsui had a base hit in the 6th inning. With bases loaded, Matsui grounded the ball and he earned an RBI. In the 10th inning, he was walked and in the end, came home to contribute to the team's 4 to 3 win over the Minnesota Twins.

In the first inning, Matsui had a base hit. In the 3rd and 5th, he had lucky 2 base hits. His contributions did not lead the team to its victory. It was a 3 to 6 game against the Minnesota Twins.

In the 2nd inning, Matsui blasted a 2 run home run. It's only his 4th this season. But his team lost to the Kansas City Royals 3 to 5.

In the first inning, Matsui had a base hit. In the relevant 8th inning with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Matsui hit both in. And the Yankees equalized with the NY Mets. Then, that inning, on Bernie Williams hit, Matsui raced home, and made it. The Yankees won 5 to 3.

Matsui hit in a run in the 4th inning. He had a base hit in the 6th inning, and for the first time this season, stole base. In the 9th inning, he grounded the ball during which a runner came home. The Yankees the first of the Subway Series from the NY Mets 5 to 2.

Matsui hit well. In the first inning already he batted in a run. But in the relevant 6th inning with bases loaded, he struck out to Shige Hasegawa of the Seattle Mariners. The Yankees in the end lost 6 to 7.

Matsui paved the way for the Yankees to score in the 2nd inning with his base hit. The Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners 6 to 0.

Matsui had a hit in the 7th inning of Seattle Mariners Shigetoshi Hasegawa. It looked like a double, but was prevented from seeking 2nd base due to Ichiro's lazer beam throw. The Yankees won the game 6 to 3.

Matsui was incredible with the bat. He singled once, and doubled 3 times. He helps the Yankees win 15 to 6 over the Oakland Athletics.

In the first inning, Matsui hit in 3 runs. And that paved the way for his team to tie with the Seattle Mariners that inning. In the end the Yankees won 13 to 9.

Matsui seemed to have a nice talk with Seattle Mariners Ichiro before the game. He started out well, by batting in a run in the first tinning. His team won 4 to 3.

May 8
Matsui had a lucky infield hit in the 2nd inning. In the 5th, he contributed with batting in a runner. The Yankees won 6 to 0 over the Oakland Athletics.

May 6
Matsui and neither his team have been played good games in the past few days. This time, in the first inning Matsui tripled, to give his team lead off RBIs. But in the end, the Yankees lost to the Oakland Athletics 3 to 6.

He had a no-hit game the previous day. This time, with runners on 1st and 2nd in the 5th inning, Matsui hit home a runner. But the Yankees lost to the LA Angels 1 to 3.

Matsui contributed, although he did not have a base. He was walked 3 times and came home each time he was on base, on A-Rod's 3 homers. The Yankees beat the LA Angels 12 to 4.

Matsui had only one base hit, but he paved the way for the Yankees by coming home. The Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers 11 to 1.

In the 2nd inning, Matsui was among the hitting spree which included 13 runs. He hit in a run. In the 4th inning he had another base hit. The Yankees at last won. It was 19 to 8 over the Tampa Bay DevilRay.

Following a no hit game for Matsui, in this game he was defeated by Tim Wakefield of the Boston Red Sox. In the 8th, after Wakefield was gone, he finally had a base hit. But the Yankees lost 1 to 8.

In the 7th inning, Matsui popped up the ball, and it appeared to be just a fly. But the Baltimore Orioles dropped it, and luckily on record, it became a 2 base hit for Matsui. He even got an RBI to help the Yankees equalize with the Orioles. In the end, the Yankees won 8 to 5..

In the 1st inning, Matsui's sacrifice fly won him an RBI. In the 9th inning, he blasted a solo home run. But the Yankees lost to the Baltimore Orioles 5 to 12.

Apr 6
Matsui's bat was silent. He had no hits. The Yankees also lost for the first time 3 to 7, to the Red Sox.

Apr 5
Matsui was again fantastic. In the 2nd inning, he singled. In the 3rd, he slammed a 2 run home run. It's his 2nd homer already. And in the 7th he had a base hit. The Yankees beat the Red Sox again. It was 4 to 3.

Apr 3
It was a big first game for Matsui. Playing against the Red Sox, Matsui was good out on the field. He jumped to catch a home run ball in the 2nd inning. At bat,the bottom of that inning, he had a base hit. He came home on Bernie Williams sacrifice fly. In the 3rd inning, he hit Gary Sheffield home. In the 8th, he slammed a 2 run home run. He helped Randy Johnson who started for the Yankees for the first time in a game which finished 9 to 2. After the game, during his conversation with reporters, he was interrupted by a phone call. It was reported to be from his former coach at the Yomiuri Giants, Shigeo Nagashima who has not made a public appearance since a brain damage.
