2002 ALL STAR GAMES

July 12 Tokyo Dome
Kei Igawa started. But he lost an RBI. In the 4th inning, Hideki Matsui tried for his 4th consecutive all star game homer but failed. George Arias slammed a homerun to take the lead, followed by Atsushi Kataoka both of the Tigers. The Central League won 4 to 1.

July 13 Matsuyama Bochan Stadium
All eyes were on Hideki Matsu of the Giants, on whether he'd home run to stretch his homerun record to 6 years in a row. He didn't quite get the gall over the outfield fence, achieving 2 doubles. MVP went to Tetsuya Matoyama, a practically unknown catcher with the Kintetsu Buffaloes. The Pacific League side won 4 to 2 this time.
