July 24, Seibu Dome
Daisuke Matsuzaka of the Lions started for the Pacific League at home. In 3 innings, he struck out 5. He lost 2 runs but they were actually the results of the catcher's careless play. Another rookie, Koji Uehara of the Giants' was homered by Ichiro. But that was the only loss he faced in 3 innings. He pitched drenched in sweat and said in an interview afterwards that he was tense. His teammate Hideki Matsui homered for the 4th straight all star game. A feat noone has ever achieved. He won the game's most valuable player. The Central League finished 8 against the Pacific League's 4. Uehara was given the win while Matsuzaka the loss.
