Final day
Endo drove out Nishikigi to finish with 13 wins. Aoiyama pushed out Takayasu for his 9th win. Kotoshogiku shoved against Goeido, but this tourney's winner instead took control and won. Goeido finished the tourney with a clean record of 15 wins. Kisenosato drove out Terunofuji for his 10th win. Terunofuji succumbed to his 11th loss. Harumafuji forced out Kakuryu for his 12th win.

14th day
Endo shoved out Takayasu for his 12th win. Kotoshogiku forced Mitakeumi out for his 9th win. Goeido was challenged by Tamawashi. He easily got hold of the Mongolian's belt and drove him out to secure the tourney victory. It's his first time to win the Emperor's Cup. Other bouts were not important anymore. But for your information, Harumafuji defeated Kisenosato. Kakuryu forced Terunofuji out.

13th day
Endo drove down Shohozan for his 11th win. Aoiyama forced Okinoumi out for his 8th win. Mitakaumi drove out Takayasu who succumbed to his 3rd loss. Kotoshogiku shoved Terunofuji then drove him out to secure a majority win. Kisenosato charged forward but Kakuryu forced him down. Kisenosato's chance for the Emperor's Cup has vanished. Harumafuji had a good start and shoved, but Goeido gave a powerful throw to extend his win. Goeido leads with a perfect record. It's followed by Endo.

12th day
Endo drove out Mitakeumi for his 10th win. Terunofuji was pushed out by Aoiyama succumbing to a majority loss. Kisenosato drove down the heavy Kaisei for his 9th win. Harumafuji beat Kotoshogiku with an underarm throw. A powerful push out win by Goeido against Kakuryu to keep the lead.

11th day
Endo and Okinoumi both lost their bouts. Terunofuji lost again, this time to Mitakeumi who won his 8th bout. Goeido attacked Kisenosato's throat then went inside to force him out. Kisenosato's hope for promotion has been shattered. Kakuryu forced down Kotoshogiku for his 8th win. Harumafuji gave Takayasu thrusts but went down on the ring first. Both are 9-2.

10th day
Takayasu fought well against Okinoumi, forcing his foot to go out the ring. It's Takayasu's 8th win. Two ozekis fought. Kotoshogiku could not resist Kisenosato's shoves, putting his foot outside the ring. Kisenosato secured a majority win. Goeido shoved Terunofuji and kept his record clean. Harumafuji sent low against Aoiyama and drove down the Bulgarian. Kakuryu forced out Takarafuji. Following Goeido in the tourney are Endo and Harumafuji

9th day
Endo powerfully forced Sokokurai out to secure a majority win for the first time at such early stage in the tourney in the makuuchi division. Kaisei forced out Okinoumi. Kotoshogiku charged into Takarafuji and drove him out. Goeido pushed Aoiyama to win his 9th bout. Takayasu looked helpless with his right arm straight up in the air in the bout against Terunofuji. But he was able to get his arm from that position and drove out the ozeki for his 7th win. Kisenosato with his right forced down Chiyo-otori. Kakuryu thrust down Myogiryu. Harumafuji drove Tochiozan down and secured his majority win.

8th day
Okinoumi drove out Mitakayumi for his 7th win. Goeido got hold of Yoshikaze's belt with his right and forced him out. He secured a majority win, and also his ozeki rank. Tochiozan forced Terunofuji to fall on the ring. It's the ozeki's 4th loss. Kisenosato took charge of the bout by forcing Myogiryu on his hands. Kotoshogiku slightly moved to the side and forced Kaisei down on the ring. Harumafuji with his right drove out Chiyo-otori. Kakuryu thrust down Takanoiwa.

7th day
Takanoiwa threw Terunofuji. The ozeki succumbed to his 3rd loss. Kisenosato had a good hold of Takarafuji and drove him out for his 5th win. Kotoshogiku drove out Yoshikaze. Top runners in the tourney faced eachother. Goeido got hold of Okinoumi's belt and threw him powerfully. Goeido kept his record clean. Okinoumi faced his first loss. Takayashi forced Kakuryu down for his 5th win. Myogiryu went forward, but as Harumafuji was on the verge of the ring, he reversed his position to win.

6th day
Endo won again. This time he thrust out Takekaze. Kisenosato drove out Shodai. Okinoumi this time gave Kotoshogiku an underarm throw to win his 6th bout. Goeido and Takayasu thrust eachother. Then Goeido got hold of his opponent's belt and drove him out. Terunofuji and Tochinoshin fought for over a minute. In the end the ozeki forcef the Georgian to fall on the dirt. Harumafuji gave Takanoiwa big shoved to forced him down. Kakuryu forced a throw on Kaisei to win his 4th bout.

5th day
Endo is doing well. He fought a good bout driving Kotoyuki out for his 4th win. Okinoumi and Shohozan had to redo their bout. In the 2nd attempt Okinoumi pushed his opponent out and kept his record clean. Kotoshogiku drove out Tochiozan. Goeido had problem facing off. In his 3rd attempt he was able to and forced out Takarafuji. Terunofuji and Miyobiryu was tangled around eachother. Terunofuji managed to win with a throw. Kisenosato drove out Takanoiwa. Kakuryu hooked his leg around Tochinoshin to force him to fall. Harumafuji had a tough bout against Shodai but managed to drive the younger challenger out.

4th day
Goeido shoved out Takanoiwa for his 4th win. Okinoumi pulled at Terunofuji as he was about to go out the ring. The judges ruled that Terunofuji's foot was out of the ring on the dirt before Okinoumi's. Okinoumi won his 4th bout from another high ranker. Kisenosato appeared to almost drag Yoshikaze on fhe dirt to win his 2nd bout. Kotoshogiku was in danger of being driven out. But he withheld and recovered, to force out Myogiryu. Harumafuji with his right force out Tochinoshin. Kakuryu fought carefully against Shodai, to drive him out.

3rd day
Takarafuji won his first bout by driving out Chiyootori. Terunofuji drove out Shodai. Tochinoshin shifted his position to the side as he stood up to fight, putting Kisenosato off and down on the ring. Kotoshogiku charged forward with thrusts but fell when Takayasu shifted to the side. It's the ozeki's first loss. Goeido looked like he was pulling back with no other measure to take, but he threw Tochiozan by the neck with his right which forced Tochiozan to fall on his knees. Kakuryu and Yoshikaze fought a tense, fast moving bout. In the end, Yoshikaze slipped and fell. Harumafuji struggled against Okinoumi. The yokozuna then pulled back and fell on his rear. Okinoumi's winning streak against to rankers continue.

2nd day
Mongolian Chiyoseima is regarded at Chiyonofuji's last apprentice. He won his 2nd bout in makuuchi by throwing Toyohibiki. Takayasu this time thrust down Myogiryu for his first win. Kisenosato banged into Tochiozan, attached his face and drove him out to win his first bout. Kotoshogiku shoved to beat Tochinoshin. Goeiko drove out Shodai. Terunofuji threw Kaisei for his first win. Harumafuji looked like he was in trouble due to Yoshikaze's aggressive bout. But Harumafuji then took control and forced down Yoshikaze. Okinoumi threw Kakuryu to beat another champion class rikishi.

1st day
The tourney took off with upsets. Both new sekiwakes lost. Takarafuji was driven out by Myogiryu. Takayasu was forced out by Takanoiwa. As to ozeki, Kotoshogiku managed to force out Shodai. Goeoido forced down Tochinoshin. But ozeki Terunofuji was driven out by Yoshikaze. Kisenosato lost to Okinoumi. Tochiozan drove out yokozuna Kakuryu. Last tourney winner, Harumafuji was able to drive out Kaisei. The Imperial couple who love sumo were there.

Pre Tourney highlight
Hakuho is out
Hakuho could not recover in time for the tourney from an repeated injury of his left knee and the right foot he injured in Nagoya. On Sept 8, he submitted his withdrawal from the autumn tourney. Tokiteku's tearful retirement
Mongolian Tokitenku, said on Aug 29, he is quitting sumo. He has been receiving treatment from malignant lymphoma. He held a news conference with hair shaved. He was losing his hair from chemo so he had his top knot cut off before that happened.

Good-bye to Chiyonofuji
The private funeral of Yokozuna great Chiyonofuji was held on August 7. He died on July 31 at 61 from pancreas cancer.
