Final day
Endo pushed out Shodai to finish with 10 wins. Asanoyama drove out Chiyotairyu for his 10th win. Ounosho quickly pushed out Takanowaka for his 10th win. Kotoshogiku struggled, as Takarafuji resisted his shoved. But in th eend the former ozeki forced down Takarafuji for his 10th win. Goeido and Harumafuji faced eachother. Goeido banged into the yokozuna. The yokozuna got hold of the front of Goeido's belt and quickly drove him out. As they tied for the Emperor's Cup, they had to fight a playoff. Harumafuji this time went charging into Goeido prompting him to pull back. With that one sided bout, the yokozuna won his 9th Emperor's Cup.

14th day
Ounosho booted Asanoyama from the competition for the Emperor's Cup with a push out. Both are 9-5. Endo forced down Chiyotairyu for his 10th win. Kotoshogiku shoved and shove Daieisho and pushed him out for his 9th win. Goeido was stopped after banged into Takanoiwa twice. In the 3rd try, the fight was officially approved, and it was a fierce one. Goeido in the end, forced himself on Takanoiwa and fell with him. Takanoiwa's body touched the dirt first and Goeido won the bout. He needs one more win for a tourney victory. Harumafuji has not given up. He cautiously and powerfully forced out Mitakeumi for his 10th win.

13th day
An already unpredictable tourney is even more unpredictable. Most who were runner ups lost their bout. This includes Chiyotairyu who lost to Hokutofuji's thrust.And Kotoshogiku who was forced down by Chiyonokuni. New makuuchi wrestler Asanoyama who defeated Daieisho unproved his record to 9 wins. Yokozuna Harumafuji had a powerful start, driving out Yoshikaze for his 9th win too. Goeido however showed a lacking motivation fight, pulling back and then slipping in the bout against Takakeisho.

12th day
Endo defeated Sadanoumi to secure a majority win. Ounosho drove out Chiyonokuni also to clinch his 8th win. Kotoshogiku banged hard into Chiyotairyu which forced the young one down. The former ozeki won his 8th bout. Shohozan gave Goeido thrusts. Then Goeido pushed forward but Shohizan shifted position forcing the ozeki down. It's Goeido's 2nd loss but he's still the sole leader. Harumafuji forced out Tamawashi for his 8th win.

11th day
Kotoshogiku appeared to have a strong well to fight. He shoved and shoved against Hokutofuji and won his 7th bout. Tochiozan gave thrusts and pushed out the up and coming Ounosho. Ounosho is down with his 4th loss. Chiyotairyu struck Tamawashi then pulled back, losing his 3rd bout. Goeido banged into Mitakeumi, grabbed the front of his belt and drove him out. Goeido remains the leader. Harumafuji grabbed Ichinojo, shoved him round and round then threw the younger Mongolian out. It's the yokozuna's 7th win.

10th day
Chiyotairyu pushed out Tochinoshin to secure a majority win. Ounosho faced Kotoshogiku. The 21 year old was shoved the forced down by the former ozeki to face his 3rd loss. Goeido and Tochiozan took time to face off. Goeido had a better start banging into Tochiozan the moving to the side, and driving him out. Takakeisho and Harumafuji stopped for a while then fought. In the end Takakeisho thrust down the yokozuna. Goeido keeps the lead, while the runner up is Chiyotairyu.

9th day
Ounosho touched the dirt when Choyotairyu thrust him down. Both are 7-2. Kotoshogiku moved around and drove out Tochinoshin for his 5th win. Goeido shifted to the side prompting the big Aoiyama to fall. The ozeki secured a majority win. And he has prevented himself from losing his rank. He is now the sole leader. Another ozeki Terunofuji who has failed to return to fight has to face demotion. Harumafuji managed to drive out Shodai for his 6th win.

8th day
Tochiozan forced Kotoshogiku down. Ounosho forced out Tochinoshin. Shohozan and Yoshikaze pushed eachother. Yoshikaze won in a very competitive out. Both are 4-4. Goeido banged into Tamawashi and drove the Mongolian out. Aoiyama was back after recovering from a fractured leg bone. He was assigned to fight Harumafuji. The yokozuna threw the Bulgarian down the ring.

7th day
Ounosho pushed out Hokutoumi for his 6th win. Kotoshogiku could not resist Tamawashi's push and went out of the ring. Goeido pushed out Shodai for his 6th win. Harumafuji was cautious in his bout against Shohozan, not taking any adventurous action but slowly and surely forcing his opponent out to win.

6th day
Another top ranker pulls out of the tourney. This time it's Terunofuji. If he misses 3 more days, he loses his ozeki rank. Shodai was automatically given a win. Some of the main bouts, Kotoshogiku was driven down by Mitakeumi. The former ozeki succumbed to his 2nd loss. Goeido faced the up and coming Ounosho. Ounosho charged into the ozeki. The ozeki moved around the forced Ounosho to lose balance and pushed him out. There's no longer anyone with a perfect record. Harumafuji shoved and managed to drive out Chiyotairyu.

5th day
Despite the many missing stars, the arena had a sell out crowd. Shodai swifted to the side putting Kotoshogiku off balance and shoved the former ozeki out. It's Kotoshogiku's first loss. Goeido asked for time, then the bout took off. Chiyotairyu gave thrusts to force Goeido to the verge of the ring. But the ozeki stayed in and thrust down his opponent. Terunouji was powerless losing to Shohozan, and he went limping out of the ring. Ounosho thrust down Harumafuji to win. It's the yokozuna's 3rd loss.

4th day
Kotoshogiku, a former ozeki is doing well as maegashira number 1. He forced down Yoshikaze to win his 4th bout. Ounosho pulled back then put down Terunofuji on the dirt. The Mongolian ozeki succumbed to his 3rd loss when he need 8 wins to keep his position. Goeido pushed out Tochinoshin. Harumafuji pushed Hokutofuji but did not give the needed final blow. He was stuck in a bad position and was instead driven out. The only yokozuna lost his 2nd bout.

3rd day
2 more popular rikishi pulled out from the tourney. Ura is absent from a tourney for the first time since his debut. His opponent for the day, Ichinojo was automatically earned a win. Ozeki,Takayasu also pulled out. Goeido quickly forced down Yoshikaze. Terunofuji appeared desperate to win, lowering his head to drive out Tochinoshin. Kotoshogiku went into Harumafuji as the yokozuna called for "time", but it was not accepted. The former ozeki beat the yokozuna.

2nd day
Shodai and Ichinojo had to redo their bout.In the 2nd try, Shodai immediately pushed out the Mongolian. Takakeisho drove out Ura. Ura could not walk and had to be wheelchaired. Takayasu was pushed out by Tamawashi. The ozeki limped out the ring, and could not walk much further. He called for a wheelchair. Kotoshogiku drove out Terunofuji. It's the ozeki's 2nd loss. Goeido pushed out Hokutofuji. Harumafuji throw Tochinoshin to win.

1st day
With many high rankers out, it's not the most exciting start of a grand tourney. Some of the popular ones, Endo was thrown down by Okinoumi. Ura was shoved by Shodai, but remained in the ring by stepping aside and drove Shodai down. Terunofuji touched the dirt to lose in the bout against Hokutofuji. Kotoshogiku waited for Goeido to bang into him, then used that force to push him out. Takayasu drove out Tochinoshin. Harumafuji forced down Tochiozan.

Hakuho pulls out
Hakuho who won the previous tourney announced on Sept 8 he will not take part. It's the first time 3 yokozunas have decided not to fight in a tourney. So it's going to be only one yokozua, Harumafuji

2 yokozunas decide not to fight in Tokyo
Kisenosato and Kakuryu have made official on Sept 7, they will withdraw from the autumn tourney. They did not fight against anyone in the general practice.
