Final day
Takamisakari beat Miyabiyama to finish the tourney with 10 wins. Ama gave Baruto a thrust then quickly drove the Estonian out for his 13th win. Chiyotaikai lost control and fell forward,giving Koto-o-shu a majority win. Hakuho got hold of Kotomitsuki's belt with his right and threw him. Ama and Hakuho went into a play off. In the play off, Hakuho shoved Ama's head. Ama withstood it once. But not the 2nd time. Hakuho managed to throw Ama and when the Emperor's Cup 3 tourneys in a row. It's also Hakuho's 9th overall Emperor's Cup. In anycase, Ama has performed well enough this tourney to be promoted ozeki.

14th day
Kisenosato managed to drive Takamisakari out for his 10th win. Miyabiyama pulled away then thrust down Kotoshogiku for his 10th win too. Dejima lost again. This time to Baruto taking a majority loss. Koto-o-shu got hold of Kyokutenho's belt with both his hands and drove the Mongolian out for his 7th win. Ama grabbed Kotomitsuki's belt with one hand and shoved the ozeki's knee with another and won. Chiyotaikai pushed Hakuho's throat but quickly lost balance and was down on the yokozuna's throw.

13th day
Takamisakari turned the event around and drove Kokkai down for his 9th win. Aran from Russia drove Chiyohakuho out for a majority win. Dejima pulled away. That cost him this bout against Aminishiki, succumbing to his 7th loss. Aminishiki won his 8th. Kisenosato for the first time defeated Baruto in a 1 minute 16 second bout. Ama went straight ahead and shoved Miyabiyama out. Kotomitsuki was pushing ahead towards Chiyotaikai. Then Chiyo found the right timing to shift his position and drive Kotomitsuki down. Chiyo clinched a majority win. Koto-o-shu attempted to change his position of his hands on Hakuho's belt. But when he was doing that, he lost control and was driving down. Hakuho and Ama still lead.

12th day
Takamisakari easily lost to Tochinonda. Kyokutenho drove out Tokitenku to clinch his 8th win. Kotomitsuki took action non-stop against Baruto and threw the Estonian in the end. Koto-o-shu at one point pulled back, but then got Dejima's belt and drove him out. Both are with 6 wins 6 losses. Chiyotaikai gave strong thrusts against Miyabiyama and won. Ama faced Hakuho, and he skillfully got hold of the yokozuna's belt and threw him. Ama's ties with Hakuho for the Emperor's Cup.

11th day
Kokkai with Tamanoshima fought a 2 minute bout which the Georgian in the end managed to win for his 8th victory. Takamisakairi skillfully moved against Tokitenku, and won with a push down also securing a majority win. Miyabiyama was driven down by Kisenosato succumbing to his 2nd loss, while Kisenosato clinched his 8th win. Kotoshogiku drove Dejima out. Kotomitsuki automatically earned a win as his opponent Kakuryu pulled out. Asasekiryu and Koto-o-shu slapped eachother fiercely. Then the Bulgarian got hold of the Mongolian's belt and drove him out. Ama grabbed the front of Chiyotaikai's belt and drove the ozeki out. Hakuho drove Baruto out to become to tale the sole lead.

10th day
Yoshikaze attacked Miyabiyama but Miyabiyama was undaunted. He kept his watchful eyes on Yoshikaze and drove him down. Takamisakari drove Kakuryu out for his 7th win. Ama grabbed Wakanosato and drove him out to secure a majority win. Baruto was astonishing. Chiyotaikai hooked his leg around the big Estonian. But it was not effective. As soon as Chiyo removed his leg, he lost. Baruto also secured a majority win. Kotomitsuki banged into Dejima and forced the former ozeki down. Koto-o-shu managed to force down Goeido for his 4th win. Hakuho, as soon as he got hold of Asasekiryu's belt with his right, forced the opposing Mongolian out.

9th day
Aran pushed out Takamisakari.The Robocop lost his 3rd bout. Miyabiyama and Kokkai had to redo their bout after they were both ruled to have fallen at the same time. In the 2nd challenge, a long bout, Miyabiyama in the end drove Kokkai out to clinch his majority win. Dejima lost to Kyokutenho. Both marked 6 wins 3 losses. Baruto picked Asasekiryu up and put him down outside the ring for his 7th win. Kotomitsuki drove Aminishiki out of the ring. Ama threw the tall Koto-o-shu and won. The Bulgarian ozeki lost his 6th bout. Chiyotaikai tried thrusts on Kisenosato but they were not effective. Kisenosato pushed out the ozeki for his 7th win. Hakuho got a firm hold of Tochinoshin's belt with his left and threw the Georgian to win.

8th day
Takamisakari was in danger of losing at one point, but he managed to drive Chiyohakuho out for his 6th win. Kokkai fell flat on his belly in the bout against Tochiozan succumbing to his 2nd loss. Miyabiyama tried to shove with both hands on Kyokutenho's belt. But the Mongolian turned his position around the threw the former ozeki out. It's Miyabiyama's first loss. Dejima and Tokitenku had to redo their bout after they're result was called a draw. Tokitenku got hold of Dejima's belt with both his hands and drove the former ozeki out. Ama was in danger at the edge of the ring. But he hooked his leg around Toyonoshima and forced him down. It's Ama's 6th win. Koto-o-shu shoved Baruto, but as he was, he slipped and fell. Chiyotaikai gave Tochinoshin a series of thrusts and won. Kotomitsuki drove Asasekiryu out of the ring. Hakuho forced Kisenosato on the ring after hooking his leg. Hakuho ties with Miyabiyama for the lead.

7th day
Yoshikaze kept on attacking Takamisakari. The Robocop lost his 2nd bout. Tokiteku got hold of the front part of Miyabiyama's belt. Miyabiyama nevertheless pushed forward with his heavy body and drove the Mongolian out for his 7th win. Toyonoshima drove Dejima out. It's Dejima's first loss. Ama shoved Asasekiryu out. Chiyotaikai and Kotoshogiku had to redo their bout, even though the refree let them go on and fight in the first face off as the judges did not approve. In the approved bout, Chiyotaikai pushed out Kotoshogiku for his 5th win. Kotomitsuki skillfully turned his body to remove Tochinoshin's hand from his belt and went on to push out the Georgian. Kisenosato pulled back. Koto-o-shu's legs split apart,the Kisenosato shoved the ozeki. Koto-o-shu fell. It's Kisenosato's 6th win. Hakuho and Goeido had eachother's belt and did not move much until Goeido went forward. Hakuho kept his right foot on the ring, and then threw Goeido. After the bout, the judges came together to looked suspiciously around the part of the ring Hakuho's foot stepped, but they ruled that the bout went to the yokozuna as originally decided.

6th day
Takamisakari overwhelmed Koryu by shoving his opponent out. Miyabiyama seemed to have lost balance at one point but he recovered quickly and drove Tochiozan out. The former ozeki improved to 6 wins. Dejima another former ozeki appeared to slip a bit but he managed to at the edge of the ring thrust down Tochinonada. Ama drove Tochinoshin out to win his 4th bout. Baruto beat Toyonoshima who was beating a number of ozeki. They're both 4-2. Kotomitsuki fell in the bout against Kisenosato to succumb to his 3rd loss. Koto-o-shu got hold of Hokutoriki and drove him down for his 3rd win. Chiyotaikai shoved Wakanosato's throat then pushed him out. Kotoshogiku was more aggressive in the beginning against Hakuho. Then Hakuho stopped Kotoshogiku from taking control and instead shoved him out.

5th day
Miyabiyama automatically won the bout as his opponent Kasuganishiki pulled out. Dejima won his 5th bout too by driving Aran out the ring. Ama got hold of Futeno's arm and swung him to win his 3rd bout. Koto-o-shu at last won by forcing Tochinoshin down. Chiyotaikai shoved Goeido who pulled away. Chiyo followed the young rikishi and pushed him out. Kotomitsuki banged into Toyonoshima who drove the ozeki down. Hakuho got hold of Hokutoriki's belt with both his hands and slowly drove his opponent out.

4th day
To the dismay of Fukuoka sumo fans, Kaio announced his withdrawal. The injury he sustained the previous day was diagnosed as needing 4 weeks to recover. His opponent of the day Kotoshogiku, therefore, was automatically given a win. In the days bouts, Takamisakari fell forward, losing his first bout. It's against Tamanoshima. Miyabiyama pushed out Aran of Georgia for his 4th win. Dejima too kept his record clean by driving Tochiozan on the ring. Ama banged into Goeido and then touched the ring, losing his 2nd bout. Chiyotaiki shoved Hokuriki's throat and won. Kotomitsuki pushed out Futeno. Koto-o-shu easily lost to Toyonoshima. Hakuho lost balanced but forced Wakanosato down the ring too. It was a close bout which the judges in the end gave to the yokozuna.

3rd day
Tosanoumi turned his back toward Takamisakari overwhelmed by the Robocop's force. Tosa was driven out. Miyabiyama shoved Takekaze. Takekaze did not give up. It was a 2 minute bout which ended with Miyabiyama shoving the 171 cm rikishi out. Dejima charged forward and pushed out Kakuryu. Ama faced his first defeat against Kisenosato. Kaio shifted to the side as he faced off against Wakanosato. Then Kaio suddenly gave a look of pain. He could not fight anymore, and Wakanosato's shoved go him tumbling down the ring. Kaio would not get up for a while. He later reported to have said he heard his left arm snap. Kotomitsuki drove out Hokutoriki. He was the only ozeki to win that day. Koto-o-shu fell in the bout against Aminishiki. Chiyotaikai lost to Toyonoshima's throw. The only yokozuna fighting, Hakuho struggled a bit but managed to force Futen-o out the ring.

2nd day
Takamisakari moved forward and thrust down Homasho. Tosanoumi is back in the makuuchi division. He drove Kitataiki down for his 2nd win. Miyabiyama forced Kakuryu down. Dejima kept his head positioned low and shived Tochinoshin out. Ama forced Hokutoriki out. Wakanosato drove Kotomitsuki out. It's the ozeki's first loss. Koto-o-shu forced Futen-o down on his belly to win his first bout. Aminishiki got his right hand on Chiyotakai's belt and threw the ozeki. Kaio was his bad leg threw Goeido by swinging him. It was a surprisingly powerful first win. Hakuho managed to drive Toyonoshima out.

1st day
Takamisakari fought against Kitataiki and won. Tochinonada shifted his position and Miyabiyama seemed to have lost balance. But the former ozeki kept himself inside the ring and drove down Tochinonada. Dejima forced Asasekiryu down. Kisenosato drove Georgian Tochinoshin out. Estonian Baruto rolled down the ring after Hokutoriki's thrust. Ama and Kotoshogiku's bout became valid only after their 5th face off. Ama, who might be promoted to ozeki is he wins more than 12 bouts, slapped Kotoshogiku, then with his left won with an underarm throw. Wakanosato forced Koto-o-shu down the ring. Chiyotaikai banged his head into Futen-o and won with powerful thrusts. Futen-o was bleeding from his forehead as he walked away from the ring. Kaio appeared with his right leg was heavily bandaged. He's reported to have pulled his muscle before the tourney. His appearance drew loud cheers from fans as he's from Fukuoka. But he wa clearly unable to fight with all his might. He easily lost to Toyonoshima. Kotomitsuki pushed out Goeido. Hakuho slapped Aminishiki, and he pulled slightly back. Aminishiki took advantage of that moment to get the yokozuna's belt. Hakuho struggled, and both tried to throw eachother. Hakuho clearly did not have control. He fell, first, and his face was scarred.

Asashoryu cancels sacred ceremony at a shrine
On Nov 1, Hakuho was the only one to perform a yokozuna's ceremony at the Sumiyoshi Shrine in Fukuoka. Asashoryu was not even in Japan recovering from an injured left elbow. He only landed in Fukuoka, from Mongolia on Nov 5, and announced 2 days later he will not be fighting in the Fukuoka tourney.
