Final day
Takamisakari drove out Mokonami and secured a majority win. Goeido hooked his leg around Tosayutaka, forcing him to fall. Goeido won his 12th bout. Miyabiyama kept his distance while thrusting Shimotori and in the end, drove him down. It's Miyabiyama's 9th win. Kisenosato charged forwad while Toyonoshima pulled away. It looked like Kisenosato was in a better position. But Toyonoshima changed course and forced Kisenosato down for his 14th win. Kaio immediately got hold of Baruto's arm and threw him. Kaio finished with 12 wins while Baruto with 8. Hakuho got hold of Koto-o-shu's belt and quickly threw the big Bulgarian on the ring. Hakuho and Toyonoshima held a playoff. Toyonoshima tried to keep the yokozuna from grabbing his belt. But Toyonoshima lost control and turned his back. Hakuho forced him down. It's Hakuho's 17th tourney victory.

14th day
Miyabiyama drove down Toyozakura for a majority win. Kisenosato and Tamawashi took a while to face off. But after they did, Kisenosato went for Tamawashi's belt and forced his out to earn his 10th win. Toyonoshima did not allow Kaio to hold his belt. He drove Kaio down on his hand. It's Toyonoshima's 13th win, while Kaio succumbed to his 3rd loss. Koto-o-shu appeared to taken control with his hands on Tokusegawa's belt. But the Mongolian instead threw the Bulgarian ozeki down. Hakuho got hold fo the front bottem of Baruto's belt and drove him out. The 2 co-leaders remain the same.

13th day
Toyonoshima banged into Kakryu and immediately drove him out for his 12th win. Baruto threw Koto-o-shu with a twisted throw for his 11th win. Hakuho went into Kaio. Kaio reached for Hakuho's belt with his right. But Hakuho shoved forwards and won. Hakuho and Toyonoshima are now the only leaders.

12th day
Kakuryu shifted his position on the verge of the ring and Koto-o-shu toppled off the ring. Kaio got hold of Hakuba's arm, then his body and drove the Mongolian out powerfully. Toyonoshima went into Baruto. They two were still for a while. Baruto began to move and tried to shove Toyonoshima but instead fell on his knee. Hakuho got hold of Tochiozen's arm and threw him. The yokozuna ties with Kaio and Toyonoshima for the Emperor's Cup.

11th day
Toyonoshima drove down Okinoumi for his 10th win. Goeido pushed out Tamawashi for a majority win. Takekaze put Kaio off balance, and Kaio turned his back. But while Kaio was in an awkward state, Takekaze fell and after that Kaio fell on top of him. Kaio earned his 10th win for the first time in more than 3 years. Baruto immediately drove out Yoshikaze. Koto-o-shu forced Tochiozan to secure a majority win. Hakuho got hold of Kakuryu and little by little shoved his opponent out.

10th day
Miyabiyama shifted slightly to force Gagamaru to fall. It's his 6th win. Toyonoshima gave an underarm throw to defeat Tokisegawa for his 9th win. Baruto slapped Kakuryu as he stood up then threw him with his left to win. Koto-o-shu got hold of Yoshikaze and drove him out for his 7th win. Kaio banged into Tochiozan then thrust his head down to win again. Hakuho struggled against Takekaze but in the end held both of Takekaze's arm and drove him out. The same four still lead.

9th day
Toyonoshima thrust down Goeido for his 8th win. Kyokutenho was forced down by Miyabiyama to take his 2nd loss. Koto-o-shu threw Takekaze with his right and won his 6th bout. Kaio got hold of Aran's belt with his right and he took his time to drive the Russian out. Kaio secured a majority win. Baruto lifted Tochinoshin out the ring also for a majority win. Yoshikaze banged into Hakuho making the yokozuna look weak. But Hakuho managed to put Yoshikaze down. Four are tied for the Emperor's Cup.

8th day
Kisenosato thrust down Asasekiryu for his 6th win. Homasho faced off before Kaio was ready. In the 2nd try, Kaio pulled back but managed to stay in the ring. He pulled back again, then grapped Homasho's arm tightly and with that driving Homasho down. Baruto charged forward and lost his balance slightly but managed to push out Kitataiki. Koto-o-shu got his hands on Tochinoshin's belt, then threw him with his left to win his 5th bout. Hakuho went quickly into Aran and with his hand on the Russian's belt shoved him down to win. Toyonoshima and Kyokutenho also won to remain as one of the 5 to lead with 7 wins.

7th day
The bouts drew a sell out crowd at last. Miyabiyama kept on attacking Takamisakari's throat and won with a push out. It's the former ozeki's 4th win. Kisenosato grabbed Kakuryu and forced the Mongolian out for his 5th win. Baruto got hold of Tochiozan's belt then drove him out. Koto-o-shu drove Hakuba out for his 4th win. Cheers for Kaio was tremendous as he came on the ring. In his bout, he struggled to get his left hand on Asasekiryu's belt. Then he used tried to get the Mongolian's arm. That grip slipped. But it was in that short moment, his right hand got hold of Asasekiryu's belt to drive him out. It's Kaio's 6th win. Hakuho grabbed Kitataki's belt then turned him around and shoved him from behind to win.

6th day
Miyabiyama stepped aside and drove out Okinoumi. With Shotenro's loss to Tokitenku, there was no longer anyone in makuuchi with a perfect record. Toyonoshima thrust down Bushuyama. Takamisakari drove down Shimotori. Kisenosato attacked Tochiozan and won his 4th bout. Koto-o-shu went forward and forced down Kitataiki. Kaio pulled Kakuryu's arm, got the back of his belt and drove him down to win. Asasekiryu fell forward first while Baruto slightly later fell on his rear. It's the Estonian's 5th win. Hakuho slapped Homasho then drove him down.

5th day
The audience gave an even bigger cheer for Kaio as he prepared to fight. As soon as he faced off, he tried to thrust Kitataiki down.But he couldn't. Then he tried to get hold of his opponent's belt. It took a while, but he managed to grab the back of the loose belt and throw Kitataiki to win his 4th bout. Baruto and Homasho both had a hold of eachother's belt. They both shoved eachother, and in the end, Homasho shoved down Baruto. Koto-o-shu and Kisenosato tried to get eachother's belt and tried to shove, while going back and forth within the ring. Then finally, Kisenosato drove the ozeki out. It's Koto-o-shu's 3rd loss. Hakuho took Asasekiryu out for his 4th win.

4th day
Miyabiyama pushed out Kasugao for his 2nd win. Toyonoshima thrust out Tamawashi to win his 3rd bout. Asasekiryu was automatically given a win as his opponent Harumafuji pulled out. Baruto grabbed Kotoshogiku's belt and drove him out. Koto-o-shu went forward then pulled back in vain as Homasho later threw the Bulgarian ozeki down. Kaio lost a grip of Kisenosato. But then when behind his young opponent and drove him out. Hakuho got hold of Aminishiki and took him out.

3rd day
Baruto got hold of Aminishiki's belt, then lifted him up and outside the ring. Koto-o-shu grabbed the front of Asasekiryu's belt and drove the Mongolian out for his 2nd win. Kaio did not fight straight forward, but went for the back of Tochinoshin's belt. And then Kaio shoved the Georgian out and won his 2nd bout to the delight of the audience. Kisanosato who stopped Hakuho from pursuing a record, gave Harumafuji a few thrusts and won. Hakuho banged into Kotoshogiku, grabbed his belt then with his left arm, threw Kotoshogiku down.

2nd day
Koto-o-shu looked set to lost against Aminishiki whom he hasn't faired well against. And as commentators expected, the Bulgarian ozeki was driven out. Kaio grabbed Kotoshogiku's arm and drove him down. Harumafuji fought a long bout exceeding a minute against Tochinoshin. In the end, the Georgian threw the Mongolian to win. Baruto lost control, turning his back towards Aran. The Russian held from the back but appeared clueless of what to do. Baruto tried to fall backwards to do something about it.And it worked, as Aran's topnot touched the dirt before any part of Baruto's body did. Hakuho briskly fought against Kisenosato for a while, but pulled back and then it appeared Kisenosato was more aggressive. Hakuho was taken to the edge of the ring, and shoved down. Hakuho fell into the audience and his consecutive win stopped at 63.

1st day
3 rikishi who fell juryo last tourney after being suspended from participating in the autumn tourney due to their involvement in baseball gambling were back in the makuuchi division. Former ozeki Miyabiyama thrust down Koryu. Goeido lost to Tochinonada. Toyonoshima beat Gagamaru. Popular Takamisakari drove down Tokitenku. Extremely popular ozeki Kaio disappointed fans being driven out by Aminishiki. Harumafuji was thrown on the ring by Kotoshogiku. Baruto drove out Kisenosato. Koto-o-shu got a good hold of Aran's belt and drove the Russian out. Hakuho threw tall Georgian Tochinoshin on the ring to extend his winning streak to 63 bouts in a row. He need 6 more consecutive wins to break the record held by Futabayama.

Asashoryu holds hair cutting ceremony
An emotional ceremony took place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan on Oct 4 witness by 10,000 at the site. It took hours for the former yokozuna's top not to be cut off as 380 were lined up to snip off a bit of his hair. After his top not was snipped all off by his stable master Takasago, Asashoryu went down and kissed the ring, and waved to spectators as he went out for a new hairdo. By Asashoryu's side, his former wife Tamir An indication they have reunited. Asashoryu has returned to becoming Dolgors?rengiin Dagvadorj.

Chiyotaikai removes top not
Bad boy ozeki Chiyotaikai who's now Sanoyama had his top not formerlly removed on Oct 2 at Ryogoku Kokugikan. It was a glamorous ceremony with many celebrities lining up to snip of a piece of his top not. And he allowed the unusual. He went down to where his mother was for her to snip off his hair too. Women are banned from stepping on the ring.
