40 year old Tamawashi clinched a majortiy win by pushing out Asakoryu.

His brother Wakamotoharu by pushing out Chiranoumi secured a majority win.
Gonoyama performed a one-sided bout forcing Kirishima out for his 10th win.
Hoshoryu gave thrusts, then Ohnoyama gave back but Hoshoryu stopped the thrust, pulling away Ohnoyama's arm to win.

Gonoyama forced out Takarafuji to win his 9th bout.
Abi charged towards Wakatakakage and drove him out to win his 9th bout.
Kirishima and Takanosho gave eachother thrusts, then Kirishima pushed out Takanosho from behind.

Hoshoryu forced himself into Shodai and drove him out the ring for his 11th win.

Takerufuji was pushed out by Gonoyama who clinched a majority win.
Wakatakakage got a hold of Takaruji to drive him out, securing his majority.
Ura and Hiradoumi performed energetic bouts 3 times. They were ruled as having fallen at the same time twice, and in the 3rd try Ura won with a powerful shove. It's his 3rd win.
Kirishima quickly pushed out Tobizaru for his 5th win.
Kotozakura's push forced Wakamotoharu to slip his foot out the ring. It's the ozeki's 10th win.
Takanosho charged into Ohnosato and pushed out the new ozeki for his 10th win.
Hoshoryu and Daieisho pushed and shoved and in the end Hoshoryu won for his 10th win.

After the day it was learned, former yokozuna Kitanofuji who was a regular sumo commentator died. He was 82. He was warm and critical and was a beloved commentator by sumo fans.
10th day
Takerufuji forced down Meisei to secure a majority win.
Mitakeumi for the first time after what looked like a serious injury on the 6th day won for the first time since by driving out Takarafuji. It's his 6th.
Takanosho forced Ohnokatsu on his hand and won his 9th bout.
Wakatakakage and Ohho had to redo their bout. In the end Wakatakakage pushed out Ohho from behind.
Abi drove down Hiradoumi to clinch a majority win.
Kirishima managed to throw Chiranoumi to win his 4th bout.
Daieisho got a hold of Ohnosato and forced out the new ozeki.

In the 3rd face off, the fight was approved and Wakatakakage drove out Shodai.

Takerufuji with a strong grip on Ohnnokatsu forced him out.
It's Ohnokatsu's first loss. Takerufuji won his 5th bout.
Tamawashi forced down Midorifuji to celebrate his 40th birthday. It's his 4th win.
Ohshoma forced Wakatakakage to fall for his 3rd loss.
Daieisho and Hiradoumi fought aggressively against eachother, thrusting and shoving.
In the end, Daieisho forced Hiradoumi down for his 4th win.

Mitakeumi won by driving Kotoshoho down but he also fell and could not get up.
The former ozeki was taken away on a stretcher.
It's rare that the winner could not in person receive the victory call from the refree.
Ura pushed out Ohho. Both are 2-4.
Kirishima finally won his first bout in a close fight against Hiradoumi.
Hoshoryu was given the win in a close call against Atamifuji.
The juries caught Atamifuji's foot leaving the ring before Hoshoryu was out.
The ozeki continued his winning streak.

Wakamotoharu lost to Hiradoumi's speedy charge, and was pushed out. It's Hiradoumi's first win.
Kirishima lost again, losing balance in the bout against Ohho.
Kotozakura pushed out Ura for his 4th win.
Ohnosato fought cautiously against Atamifuji and drove him out.
It's Ataifuji's first loss.
Hoshoryu was speedy again, quickly throwing Wakatakakage to keep his record clean.
4th day
Atamifuji drove out Tobizaru for his 4th win.
Wakamotoharu pushed out Kirishima who has yet to win a bout.
Daieisho forced Ohho out for his 2nd win.
Abi threw Ohnosato with his right, forcing the new ozeki to fall.
Hoshoryu got the back of Ura's belt and drove him down to win his 4th bout.

Takerufuji forced out Kagayaki for his 2nd win.
Wakatakakage pushed out Chiranofuji for his 3rd win.
Abi forced out Kirishima who succumbed to his 3rd loss.

Kotozakura lost his first bout to Ohho.
Ohnosato easily drove out Shodai for his 3rd win.

Shishi got hold of Bushozan and drove him out.
Takerufuji was unable to fight back Tokihayate and was driven out.
Ura forced Kirishima on his hand. The former ozeki lost again.
Wakatakakage thrust out Daieisho for his 2nd win.
Kotozakura drove out Hiradoumi.
Ohnosato was powerful, pushing down Ohho.
Hoshoryu blew Wakamotoharu out the ring.

First day
Takerufuji, who won the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament made a comeback to makkuuchi division after
missing tourneys and making his way up the ranks again.
He faced Asakouryu and thrust him down to win.
Shishi, from Ukraine fought in makuuchi division for the first time. He drove out Tokihayate.
Wakamotoharu and Abi had to redo their bout.
In the 2nd try, Wakamotoharu pushed out Abi.
Daieisho thrust down Ura.
Wakatakakage shoved and threw Kirishima to win.
Hiradoumi charged into Ohnosato. Ohnosato stayed inside the ring and forced Hiradoumi down to win.
Hoshoryu drove out Ohho.
Shodai shoved forward but Kotozakura on the verge of the ring thrust Shodai down.

Pre Tourney highlights
Terunofuji pulls out again
The yokozuna has been out since the autumn tourney after injuring his knee in a local tour.
His kneee continues to trouble him plus diabetes, and will be out the entire tournement.
His stable master Isegahama told reporters on Nov 8, Terunofuji is unable to practice at all due to pain in his knee and back.
He hasn't sweat enough to reduce sugar level in his blood.
Ohnosato is ozeki
Japan Sumo Association decided on Sept 25 to promote Ohnosato to Ozeki.
Ohnosato achieved the feat in just 7 tourneys since making it to makuuchi division, or the fastest promotion on record.
