Final day
Chiyonokuni forced Kagayaki to fall to win his 12th bout. Myogiryu drove out Kotoshogiku. Tochinoshin drove out Ikioi for his 13th win.He was well aware he wil be promoted to ozeki. The 2 yokozuna's faced eachother. Kakuryu had control of the bout. He forced out Hakuho, and won his 5th Emperor's Cup.

14th day
Kotoshogiku banged into Kaisei and drove him out to secure a majority win. Mitakeumi appeared to be in control, but at the verge of the ring, Shodai gave a throw and won. They both fell down the ring. Mitakeumi could not get up for a while. When he did, he was leaping. He needed help to walk to the dressing room. Tochinoshin faced Kakuryu. He got a hold of the yokozuna's belt, but it slightly loosened. Meaning it was not a firm hold. In the end, Kakuryu threw the Georgian. Kakuryu is now the sole leader. Hakuho lost to Ichinojo's throw succumbing to his 3rd loss.

13th day
Mitakeumi drove out Kotoshogiku to win his 8th bout. Tochinoshin fell forward first before driving out Shodai. It's the Georgian's first loss. Shodai secured a majority win. Hakuho threw Ikioi. Kakuryu drove out Ichinojo to tie with Tochinoshin for the Emperor's Cup.

12th day
Kaisei drove down Endo. It's Kaisei's 4th win. Kotoshogiku appeared to not have a good grip of Ichinojo but he kept on shoving and won. Both are 7-5. Kakuryu appeared not too confident looking alarmed and slapping Ikioi. In the end he moved around to push out Ikioi. It's the yokozuna's 11th win. The highlight bout of this tourney may be the one between Tochinoshin and Hakuho. Hakuho quickly got hold of Tochinoshin's belt. But Tochinoshin also had a hold of Hakuho's.Both pushed and shoved. In the end, the Georgian pinned the yokozuna at the verge of the ring and drove him out. Tochinoshin not only defeated a yokozuna, with this victory his promotion to ozeki is certain. Tochinoshin lead, followed by Kakuryu.

11th day
Tamawashi gave Endo thrusts and pushed Endo out. Endo succumbed to a majority loss. Ichinojo drove out Chiyotairyu for his 7th win. Kotoshogiku fought hard but when Tochinoshin got a hold of the former ozeki's belt he could not be stopped from giving a throw. It's the Georgian's 11th win. Hakuho banged into Shodai and drove him out. Hakuho stood there after his win, holding his eye in pain. Kakuryu slightly pulled out and Mitakeumi tried to push, but the yokozuna stepped aside, driving down Mitakeumi. The 2 yokozunas remained tied for runner up.

10th day
Tochinoshin continued to fight well. He lifted Chiyotairyu slightly then drove him out for another win. Ichinojo gave Shodai a big thrust they pushed him out. Both are 6-4. Kakuyru stepped aside to prompt Kotoshogiku to fall. Endo was back after missing a few days to recover from his injury. He faced Hakuho. Hakuho shoved. Endo tried to keep inside the ring and moved around. He could not control the bout. He turned his back towards Hakuho and was driven out into the audience. Tochinoshin remains the sole leader.

9th day
Tochinoshin picked Daieisho up then drove him out the ring to keep his record perfect. Ichinojo earned his 5th win without fighting as Goeido pulled out. Hakuho threw Kotoshogiku with his right to secure a majority win. So did Kakuryu by driving out Shodai.

8th day
Kotoshogiku defeated Abi for his 6th win. Ichinojo was the first to get hold of Tochinoshin's belt. But Tochinoshin shoved and shoved to win. The Georgian secured a majority win. Daieisho gave Goeido thrusts and defeated the ozeki. Kakyru dropped the huge Chiyomaru. Hakuho resist Yutakayama's shoves and pushed back to win.

7th day
Kotoshogiku got hold of Ryuden and drove him out. Tochinoshin was given another win without fighting as hit opponent for the day, Endo pulled out due to a torn ligament. Abi pulled back and shifted which put Goeido off the guard, driving down the ozeki. Hakuho got a hold of Chiyotairyu and threw him without wasting any time. Kakuryu pulled back then force Yutakayama down.

6th day
Kotoshogiku was not in a good position to start with but he was in the end able to drive out Shohozan. Kaisei forced Shodai out. It's Shodai's first loss while it's Kaisei's first win. Mitakeumi gave Endo thrust then got behind and threw him for his 4th win. Yutakayama attacked Tochinoshin. But the Georgian manged to drive Yutakayama down to keep his record clean. Goeido powerlessly lost to Chiyotairyu. Kakuryu forced down Daieisho. The up and coming Abi charged towards Hakuho, who had no choice but to pull back and lost. It's Abi's push out 2nd win this tourney. He left the ring beaming with delight.

5th day
Ikioi got hold of Kotoshogiku and drove the former ozeki out. Shodai forced Chiyoshoma out for his 5th win. Endo and Ichinojo fought aggressively. Endo was more on the defense side. But in the end, he drove out the big Mongolian. Tochinoshin force out Kaisei to keep his record clean. Goeido drove out Yutakayama. Hakuho threw Daieisho for his 5th win. Kakuryu faced a powerful challenge by Abi. In the end, Abi fell. It's Kakuryu's 4th win.

4th day
Chiyoshoma shifted to the side to prompt Kotoshogiku to lose balance. But the former ozeki stayed put and won. Abi and Endo attached eachother. But Endo lost balance and was forced down the ring. Tochinoshin powerfully drove out Mitakeumi for his 4th win. So did Ichinojo improve his record by forcing out Yutakayama. Goeido was pushed out by Tamawashi. It's the ozeki's 2nd loss. Shohozan faced off quicky, attacked Kakuryu and prompted the yokozuna to pull back to lose his first bout. Hakuho forced Kaisei to roll on the ring to win his 4th bout.

3rd day
Ikioi appeared to have been pushed out by Ryurai but the judges ruled, Ryurai's foot was turned down therefore Ikioi won the bout. It's his 3rd. Shodai pushed out Chiyotairyu for his 3rd win. Kotoshogiku struggled but did not give up and drove out Yutakayama for his 2nd win. Ichinojo pulled back and forced down Daieisho. Tochinoshin attacked Tamawashi and forced the Mongolian out, but with a bloody nose.] Goeido fell forward in the bout against Endo succumbing to his first loss. Hakuho quickly drove out Shohozan. Kakuryu banged into Kaisei and forced the Brazilian out.

2nd day
Kotoshogiku shoved Chiyotairyu with his left to drive him down and won. Endo fought aggressively against Yutakayama. They went to the same high school. Endo in the end forced Yutakayama down for his first win as komusubi. Tochinoshin got hold of Abi and drove him out. Ichinojo forced out Kaisei. Goeido quickly pushed out Shohozan. Kakuryu forced down Tamawashi. Hakuho was shoved but managed to use his skills to drive down Mitakeumi. The yokozuna himself fell from the ring too.

1st day
Kotoshogiku attempted shoves but fell out the ring before Shdai. Ichinojo pushed out Abi. Toshinoshin lifted Shohozan then drove him out the ring. Goeido drove out Kaisei. Tamawashi and Hakuho thrusted eachother then took a few seconds looking at eachother befor Tamawashi charged in, while Hakuho drove him out. New komusubi Endo faced Kakuryu. Kakuryu quickly forced him down.

Pre Tourney highlight
Kisenosato and Takayasu will not fight
It was clear during practice Kisenosato was not in good shape. He lost most of his practice bouts. His stable master announced on May 11, it will pull out of another tourney. It's the 7th. It's the worst record for a yokozuna, tying with the record of Takanohana. Meanwhile ozeki Takayasu is still suffering from a left arm pain.
