Final day
Miyabiyama thrust Yoshikaze down to earn a majority win. Kisenosato threw Aminishiki for his 9th win. Chiyotaikai gave Kakuryu thrusts than pulled back to clinch a majority win. Kotomitsuki got behind Kaio and drove him out to finish with 12 wins. Koto-o-shu immediately got himself in a good position against Harumafuji and forced the Mongolian out for his 13th win, and still with a chance for the Emperor's Cup if Hakuho lost. But Hakuho, after a tough battle against Asashoryu won with an underarm throw. It's Hakuho's 11th Emperor's Cup victory.

14th day
Aminishiki got hold of Tochinoshin's belt with his right and threw the big Russian to win his 11th bout. Kakizoe quickly drove out Takamisakari. However, both are 6-8. Kotoshogiku pushed out Miyabiyama. Chiyotaikai banged into Kaio. But it was not strong enough. Kaio forced Chiyo to lose balance and shoved his arm. Kaio secured his majority win. Kotomitsuki drove out Kakuryu. Harumafuji appeared fighting Hakuho in an advantageous position. But Harumafuji's arm slipped away. Hakuho got behind the ozeki and drove him out. Koto-o-shu grabbed Asashoryu's belt with his right and drove the yokozuna out. The Bulgarian still has a chance to win the Emperor's Cup. Hakuho remains on top.

13th day
Kyokutenku quickly drove out Takamisakari. Miyabiyama shoved Toyohibiki's thoat then pulled back to win. Chiyotaikai temporary pulled back but beat Goeido with a push out. Aminishiki shifted to the side and forced Kotomitsuki to leave the ring. Both are 10-3. Kaio got his hand on Iwakiyama's belt and drove him out for his 7th win. Asashoryu lifted Harumafuji. Harumafuji withstood it once. But the yokozuna did it again, then threw the Mongolian ozek. The 2 tied for the Emperor's cup faced eachother. Hakuho threw Koto-o-shu with his left to win. Hakuho is the sole leader.

12th day
Aminishiki lost his 3rd bout to Tamanoshima,diminishing his chance for the Emperor's Cup. Takamisakari pulled back and fell, but Takekaze fell first. So the Robocop earned his 6th win. Harumafuji got hold of Chiyotaikai and shoved the veteran ozeki out to win his 9th bout. Miyabiyama falls to Koto-o-shu's thrust. Hakuho struggled against Kaio. The yokozuna in the end won but was he appeared to have injured his arm. Asashoryu was able to force Kotomitsuki out the ring. Kotomitsuki dropped out from the leading group aiming for the Emperor's Cup.

11th day
Dejima was forced down by Toyonoshima. The former ozeki succumbed to his 9th loss. After the defeat Dejima announced he is retiring. It's because for one, he will be demoted from makuuchi ranking. Another, he is unable to fight his style of sumo anymore. As to another former ozeki, Miyabiyama drove Tochinonada down for his 6th win. Chiyotaikai banged into Koto-o-shu and pulled away forcing the Bulgarian to fall. It's Koto-o-shu's first loss. Harumafuji pushed down Baruto for his 8th win. Kaio twisted Asashoryu's hand which forced the yokozuna to run out of the ring. It's Asashoryu's 3rd loss. Kotomitsuki kept on shoving Hakuho. Hakuho resisted. But in the end, he could not resist anymore and was walked out. The audience threw cushions towards the ring in response to the upset. There are now 3 tying for the Emperor's Cup with a loss each. They are Hakuho, Kotomitsuki and Koto-o-shu.

10th day
Iwakiyama drove out Takamisakari. Miyabiyama kept on giving Goeido thrusts, but in the end, he lost balance, and the former ozeki lost. Kotomitsuki forced Baruto out for his 9th win. Koto-o-shu banged into Kisenosato and went right ahead win with a push down. Harumafuji defeated Kaio with an underarm throw. Hakuho thre Chiyotaikai for another win. Asashoryu got behind Kakuryu and drove the young Mongolian down. Hakuho and Koto-o-shu kept their records clean.

9th day
Yamamotoyama redid his bout against Wakakoyu and lost. Tochinonada threw Dejima near the edge of the ring. Takamisakari drove Mokonami down for his 5th win. Miyabiyama forced Toyonoshima down. Kaio and Koto-o-shu fought a long sumo which lasted 1 minute 30 seconds. In the end, Koto-o-shu drove Kaio to win his 9th bout. Kotomitsuki gave a powerful thrust to which Harumafuji fell. Chiyotaikai shove Asashoryu hard attacking his throat. The yokozuna fell and lost his 2nd bout. Hakuho quickly drove Kakuryu out. Hakuho and Koto-o-shu tie for the Emperor's Cup.

8th day
Toyohibiki shoved Takamisakari to the edge of the ring, but the Robocop resisted and threw Toyohibiki to win his 4th bout. Koto-o-shu kept his head low and with a hold of Baruto's belt drove him down to clinch a majority win. Harumafuji pulled back and then threw Tochiozan to win. Chiyotaikai gave thrusts but he was defeated by Kotomitsuki's overarm throw. Kaio fought for Kyokutenho's belt. When he got it, he shoved and won his 5th bout. Hakuho with an underarm throw defeated Iwakiyama. Asashoryu at one point appeared to be shoving Kisenosato, but a slight shift, landed Asashoryu on the dirt. It's the first loss for the yokozuna.

7th day
Yamamotoyama got hold of Dejima's arm and threw the former ozeki for his 4th win. Takamisakari got a hold of Tochinoshin and drove him out. Miyabiyama drove out Kokkai. Harumafuji with a thrust beat Kakuryu. Chiyotaikai pushed out Aran Kotomitsuki drove out Goeido. Kaio pulled Toyohibiki's head towards him and thrust him down. It's Kaio's 4th win. Koto-o-shu powerfully drove out Kyokutenho. Iwakiyama shoved Asashoryu. But then he missed the yokozuna, and tumbled on the dirt. Hakuho shoved down Kisenosato. The 2 yokozuna and Koto-o-shu continue to fight with clean records.

6th day
Yamamotoyama lifed Shimotori up and took him out the ring for his 3rd win. Tokitenku drove out Dejima. The Mongolian won his 5th bout. Miyabiyama thrust down Mokonami for his 3rd win. Takamisakari got hold of the front part of Toyonoshima's belt and drove him out for his 2nd win. Chiyotaikai withstood Iwakiyama's shove at one point, but in the end was forced on the ring. Kotomitsuki shifted position in the bout against Kisenosato, but was not able to keep control of the bout. The ozeki succumbed to his first loss. Kaio with his right hand on Aran's belt shoved the Russian out. Koto-o-shu defeated Toyohibiki with an overarm throw. Harumafuji gave Goeido an underarm throw to win. Hakuho thrust down Tochiozan. Asashoryu rolled Kotoshogiku on the ring.

5th day
Dejima threw Yoshikaze for his 2nd win. Tamanoshima pushed out Takamisakari. Tochinoshin threw Miyabiyama. The big man flopped on the dirt. Kotomitsuki gave Iwakiyama an overarm throw for his 5th win. Kisenosato defeated Kaio. Koto-o-shu continuously attacked Goeido won. Harumafuji banged into Aran. But Aran moved a bit to the side then forced Harumafuji out. With this loss the ozeki's promotion to yokozuna is believed to have disappeared. Chiyotaikai got hold of Tochiozan's arm and threw him. Asashoryu forced Toyohibiki down the ring. Hakuho drove out Kyokutenho.

4th day
Miyabiyama shifted and pushed out Tamanoshima for his first win. Takamisakari pulled back and lost to Bushuyama. Kaio was pushed out by Kakuryu. Koto-o-shu slapped Iwakiyama and drove him out. The Bulgarian has a clean record. Chiyotaikai with thrusts defeated Kotoshogiku. Kotomitsuki swang Aran then threw him don. Hakuho with his left hand on Toyohibiki's belt threw him. Asashoryu slapped Tochiozan then prompted him to fall.

3rd day
Dejima lost again. It's to another new makuuchi rikishi Wakakoyu. Yamamotoyama gave Kakizoe a powerful throw and won his first bout. Takamisakari fell forward in the bout against Miyabiyama. Kakuryu slipped in the bout against Koto-o-shu. Kotoshogiku banged into Harumafuji and quickly forced the ozeki out. It's the Mongolian's first loss. Chiyotaikai pulled back and lost to Kyokutenho. Kotomitsuki kept his eye on Toyohibiki and drove him out. Kaio thrust down Tochiozan's head and won. With his career 952 win he exceeded the record held by Kitanoumi to become number 2 recorld holder among sumo heroes. Asashoryu struggled but managed to drive out Goeido. Hakuho threw Aran down to win.

2nd day
New makuuchi rikishi Tosayutaka drove out Dejima for his first win. Aiminishiki drove Miyabiyama down on the ring. Baruto swang Takamisakari and drove the Robocop out. Harumafuji forced Iwakiyama out. Chiyotaikai powerlessly pulled back and lost to Kisenosato. Kaio had a hold of Kotoshogiku and with that grip enabled the ozeki to force his opponent out. It's Kaio's career 951th win to tie with a former great yokozuna Kitanoumi. Koto-o-shu shifted to the side as he stood up to fight. With that Tochiozan lost balance was forced down. Hakuho thrust down Goeido by his head. Aasashoryu shoved forward Aran, with his left arm around the Russian belt, and won.

1st day
Dejima defeated Shimotori. Tokitenku drove out the great big Yamamotoyama. Takamisakari got behind Aminishiki and drove him out. Miyabiyama fell to Baruto's shove. Chiyotaikai shoved, pulled back, shove, then drove Toyohibiki down. Kotomitsuki threw Tochiozan. Goeido drove out Kaio. Koto-o-shu got hold of Aran and easily forced the Russian out. Kisenosato tried to shove and pull, but Harumafuji would not let go of his belt. In the end the Mongolian ozeki drove out Kisenosato. Asashoryu threw Kyokutenho with his right. The yokozuna's left arm is largely bandaged. Hakuho drove out Kotoshogiku.

Asashoryu announces divorce
It came to light on Jul 6 that the yokozuna divorced his wife of 7 years. They have 2 children. But Asashoryu failed to explain the reason for the divorce.
