Final day
Enho forced Daieisho to fall on his knee and won his 9th bout. Terutsuyoshi drove out Tomokaze for his 12th win. Endo forced Hokutofuji out while falling. It's Endo's 10th win. Abi immediately thrust down Kotoshogiku to earn a majority win. The former ozeki succumbed to a majority loss. 2 yokozunas faced eachother in the final bout of the tourney. It was a powerful bout which last for 42 seconds. In the end Kakuryu drove out Hakuho to clinch the Emperor's Cup for the 6th time.

14th day
Enho managed to drive out Myogiryu to secure a majority win for the first time in makuuchi. Tomokaze drove down Kotokeiko for his 11th win. Terutsuyoshi touched the dirt to Hokutofuji's thrust to lose his 3rd bout. Kakuryu took Mitakeumi straight out of the ring for his 13th win. Kotoshogiku shove Hakuho out of the ring. Purple cushions flew inside the hall in response to the upset.

13th day
Terutsuyoshi pushed out Oonosho to win his 11th bout. Endo gave thrusts then forced out Shimanoumi to secure a majority win. Asanoyama was driven down by Aoiyama succumbing to a majority loss. Mitakeumi clinched his majority win by driving out Kotoshogiku. Hakuho struggled but in the end threw Myogiryu for his 12th win. Kakuryu was forced down by Tomokaze taking his first loss. The yokozunas are tied for the Emperor's Cup.

12th day
Enho's foot turned and touched the dirt and lost to Shohozan. Terutsuyoshi pushed out Myogiryu for his 10th win. Kotoshogiku while falling forced Tochiozan out and won his 6th bout. Tomokaze and Ichinojo took time to fight. Tomokaze was driven out and lost his 3rd bout. Kakuryu kicked Chiyotairyu and forced him down. Hakuho took it slow. He and Mitakeumi held eachother for a while. Then the yokozuna took control and drove Mitakeumi out.

11th day
Enho persistently moved low inside Sadanoumi, but in the end Sadanoumi won with a throw. Both are 7-4. Terutsuyoshi had a fast hard start and beat Nishikigi with a push out. Oonosho earned an automatic win as his opponent Kaisei withdrew from the tourney. Tomokaze beat Kotoyuki for his 9th win. Asanoyama drove out Hokutofuji quicky for his 5th win. Hakuho did not have to fight as his opponent for the day, Takayasu withdrew from the tourne. Kakuryu faced Kotoshogiku who shoved and shoved. Kakuryu stopped the former ozeki and forced him down. Kakuryu still leads.

10th day
A sad news during the tourney.Aminishiki who is 40 years old has decided to retire. It's after injuring himself in the juryo division. He's been the longest fighting or 117 tourneys as sekitori or high ranking sumo rikishi. As to the highlights of the day,Enho did not give up, managed to get hold of the front of Nishikigi's belt and drive him out. Kotoshogiku lost to Endo. Both are 5-5. Takayasu with his bad arm was able to drive out Meisei and secure a majority win. Kakuryu was in danger of being shoved out but he kept inside, shifted his position and drove out Ichinojo to keep his record clean. Hakuho quickly forced Tamawashi to run out the ring. He closely follows Kakuryu for the Emperor's Cup.

9th day
Kaisei was driven out by Sadanoumi succumbing to a majority loss. Enho forced Takagenji to lose balance, went low and drove him out. It's Enho's 6th win. Oonosho pushed against Kotoshogiku but Kotoshogiku forced him down. Tamawashi raced out the ring to Hokutofuji's shove and succumbed to a majority loss. Takayasu fought with his left arm heavily guarded. He was fighting well in the beginning but in the end was forced down by Shodai. Hakuho was threatened with shoves by Ichinojo and lost his first bout. Kakuryu got hold of Meisei's belt and took time to drive him out. Kakuryu is now the sole leader.

8th day
Enho could not get inside Chiyomaru and was driven down. It's his 3rd loss. Kotoshogiku was driven out by Tomokaze. Mitakeumi and Ichinojo faced off after 2 tried and Mitakeumi pushed out the Mongolian for his 6th win. Goeido was not around. He complained of a shoulder pain, pulled out and Meisei automatically took a win. Tamawashi appeared to have put his arm around Takayasu's turning it the wrong way. Takayasu kept on fighting, then Tamawashi slipped and fell. Takayasu won his 7th bout, holding his arm in pain. Kakuryu thrust down Daieisho. Hakuho managed to drive down Shodai. Both yokozuna secured a majority win.

7th day
Shimanoumi thrust down Kotoshogiku. Takayasu shoved and shoved to push out Aoiyama. Endo immediately got hold of Goeido's belt and drove out the ozeki. It's Goeido's 4th loss. Hakuho tried to thurst down Daieisho a few times, and finally in the end managed to do so. Kakuryu drove out Shodai. The 2 yokozuna remain on top.

6th day
Little Enho went low inside Yago. He then gave a twise to defeat Yago for his 5th win. Myogiryu drove out Kotoshogiku. Both are 4-2. Takayasu gave thrusts and as he pulled away was able to keep his left foot in the ring while driving out Daieisho. Goeido pulled back and was taken out by Shodai. It's the ozeki's 3rd loss. Tochinoshin withdrew from the tourney and Abi benefitted by earning a win without fighting. Kakuryu forced Endo to roll on the ring. Hakuho acted strangely, standing up straight for long, several times before the face off. But finally when the bout was valid he drove down Aoiyama. Both yokozuna continue to lead.

5th day
Enho fought aggressively against Tochiozan and drove him out. It's the small rikishi's 4th win. Kotoshogiku shoved and shoved to drive out Takarafuji for his 4th win. Goeido managed to drive out Ryuden for his 3rd win. Tochinoshin pulled back as Asanoyama shoved forward and won. Tochinoshin has yet to win a bout. Takayasu gave thrusts and pushed out Abi. Hakuho forced Endo to fall belly up. Kakuryu drove Aoiyama on the dirt. Both yokozunas have clean records.

4th day
Takagenji lost his first bout to Tochiozan. Enho lost his first bout to Terutsuyoshi. Kotoshogiku succumbed to his first defeat, rolling to Chiyotairyu's thrust. Daieisho shifted his position and pushed out Tochiozan. The ozeki lost his 4th bout. Takayasu forced down Asanoyama. Goeido and Hokutofuji took time to face off, after their 3rd try the bout was official. Hokutofuji forced down the ozeki for his first win. Kakuryu drove Abi out the ring quickly. Hakuho walked out Ryuden.

3rd day
Enho pushed out Kotoyuki for his 3rd win. Takagenji forced out Kotoeiko also winning his 3rd bout. And so did Kotoshogiku win another bout by pushing out Daieisho who pulled back. Takayasu and Endo had to redo the bout. In the 2nd try, Takayasu easily drove down Endo for his 2nd win. Goeido shoved Aoiyama out. Hokutofuji went low inside Hakuho. But he went too low, Hakuho in the end with a twisted throw drove Hokutofuji on his face. His face was covered in dirt. Kakuryu skillfully drove Asanoyama out the ring.

2nd day
Meisei shoved against Kotoshogiku. But in the end the former ozeki drove Meisei down for his 2nd win. Mitakeumi pushed out Endo for his first win. Goeido immediately forced a throw to which Abi fell on his belly. Tochinoshin pulled back and lost to Shodai's shoves. Takayasu and Ryuden tied so they had to redo the bout. Takayasu turned his back and was forced down. Kakuryu pulled away and kept inside the ring, forcing Hokutofuji to fall on his belly. Asanoyama tried to stop Hakuho from moving then, when he made the first move, Hakuho took advantage of it and gave a throw. It's the yokozuna's 2nd win.

First day
The small Enho forced a throw on Toyonoshima from behind and won. Takagenji won his first bout as makuuchi by driving out Nishikigi. Kotoshogiku forced out Ichinojo. Tochinoshin as ozeki once again clashed into Endo, then was thrown by Endo and lost. Takayasu pushed out Hokutofuji. Last tourney champion Asanoyama drove out Goeido. Abi attacked Hakuho's throat then the yokozuna fought back and won by forcing Abi down. Kakuryu drove out Ryuden.

Pre Tourney highlight
Takakesho decides to withdraw from Nagoya tourney
Takakesho made it clear on Jul 5, he will not fight this tourney. And unlike last tourney, he will not try to return to the ring in the middle of the tourney. This means, he will be demoted to sekiwake after the tourney.

Asanoyama is given a star's welcome
Asanoyama's March tourney victory was celebrated big in his hometown in Toyama. A motorcade on Jun 16 drew 25,000. Then 2 days later, he was presented with a huge tuna by Kinki University, where he studied. Kinki is known for farming tuna.
