2nd stage: Yomiuri Giants vs Hanshin Tigers
The Giants get to play with a game advantage. In the first game on Oct 15, Tetsuya Utsumi started for the Giants. But he was in a turmoil. He gave up a run to Takashi Toritani. Then Mauro Gomez slammed a 2 run home run. Gomez had another RBI. The Tigers starting pitcher was Shintaro Fujinami. In the 7th inning the Giants Shinnosuke Abe homered. But that was it. The Tigers won 4 to 1.
In the 2nd game on Oct 16, the Giants starter was Hirokazu Sawamura. He gave ups runs to the Tigers. In the 5th inning, he hit the batter. And was taken out of the game. Meanwhile Takashi Toritani had 2 RBI hits. Matt Murton hit in 2 runs. The Tigers won 5 to 2. On Oct 17, the Giants lost again. Mauro Gomez helped the Tigers win with his double. It's 4 to 2.
On Oct 18, Matt Murton slammed a 3 run home run. Kosuke Fukudome followed with a home run. In the 2nd inning, Tsuyoshi Nishioka homered a 2 run. The Giants tried to catch up in the final inning with consecutive homers but in vane. The game ended 8 to 4 for the Tigers. The Tigers advanced to the Japan Series.

1st stage: Hanshin Tigers vs Hiroshima Toyo Carp
Randy Messenger started for the Tigers on Oct 11. He pitched well, in a tense game against the Carps ace pitcher Kenta Maeda. In the 6th inning, Kosuke Fukudome slammed a home run. That ended to be the only RBI of the game. The Tigers won 1 to 0.
In the 2nd game the game went into extra innings, but neither side could score. Since the first game win advantage was counted, the Tigers was given the first stage victory.

Oct
The Giants continue to lose after its league victory on Oct 1. It's against the Swallows but managed to win the next day. However, there's trouble. It's pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano his rear and he may not make it back in time for the Climax Series. THe Giants lost to the BayStars on Oct 3. It's won against the Carp on Oct 6, with Leslie Anderson contributing with 2 RBIs.

Sept
The Giants continue to lose after its league victory,

On Sept 27 the BayStar defeated the Giants and also the next game. The Dragons managed to beat the Carp. The Tigers Kosuke Fukudome slammed a game winning RBI to defeat the Swallows.

On Sept 26, the Giants Leslie Anderson slammed a 2 run home run. Tetsuya Utsumi pitched well. It defeated the BayStars 6 to 2. As the runner up Carp lost to the Tigers, the Giants secured the season's league victory or for the 3rd consecutive year. For the Giants, its the 36th league win. The next day the BayStars won.

On Sept 23, the Giants clobbered the Dragons and Toshiya Sugiuchi won the game. The Giants won the next game but lost the 3rd. The BayStars Tony Blanco finished the game against the Tigers with a home run on Sept 23. The Tigers won the next with a 2 run home run by Mauro Gomez. The BayStars won the 3rd. Carp beat the Swallows with Eishin Soyogi's 3 run home run on Sept 23. Tetsuto Yamada homered twoice to help the Swallows win the next day. Carp won the 3rd game.

The Giants Tetsuya Utsumi won his 6th game on Sept 19 and Shinnosuke be homered against the Swallows. The Giants won the next game but lost the 3rd in the 11th inning in which Tetsuto Yamada homered. The Tigers beat the Dragons in the first 2 games from Sept 12, lost the 3rd. The BayStars Takayuki Kajitani contributed to his team with a 3 run homer and a triple on Sept 19 against the Carp. The Carp won the next 2 games.

The Carp beat the Giants in the game on Sept 15 started by Kenta Maeda. The Giants won the next 2 games. The Tigers won 2 of the 3 games against the Swallows. The BayStars one the first game against the Dragon on Tony Blancos home run. But lost the next 2 and fell to 5th place, while Dragons rose to 4th.

The Giants Hisayoshi Chono's RBI helped his team defeat the BayStars on Sept 13. But the next day the BayStars won on Yulieski Gourriel's home run. Carp clobbered the Tigers on Sept 13. The next day the Tigers Kosuke Fukudome homered, and Tsuyoshi Nishioka hit in a run to win. The Swallows won the first game against the Dragons, and they finished a draw in the next game.

The Giants and the Tigers clashed against eachother from Sept 9. The Giants Hayato Sakamoto slammed a 2 run home run to win the first game. The Giants won all 3 games. The Carp beat the Dragons in the first 2 games, lost the 3rd. The BayStars won the first 2 games against the Swallows, but lost another competitive 3rd game.

The Giants faced the Swallows from Sept 5, lost the first which Tetsuya Utsumi started, won the next on Hisayoshi Chono's grand slam, and lost the 3rd in which Wladimir Balentien homered. The Carp's Deunte Heath shut out the BayStars on Sept 5.Then the next day Daichi Osera won a shut out game. The BayStars beat the Carp in the 3rd game. 49 year old Masa Yamamoto started for the Dragons on Sept 5, and pitched a shut out 5 innings and helped his team beat the Tigers. The Dragons won the next 2 games too.

The Giants Hayato Sakamoto slammed a 3 run to beat the Carp on Sept 2. Hisayoshi Chono homered in the next game to win. In the 3rd, Hirokazu Sawamura pitched well and relayed pitchers for a shut out win. The Tigers finished the game against the BayStars on Sept 2. The Tigers lost the next, but won the 3rd on Tony Blanco's home run. Michihiro Ogasawara's RBI helped the Dragons beat the Swallows on Sept 2. The Swallows won the next. The Dragons clinched back the game on Sept 4.

Aug
From Aug 30,the BayStars beat the Giants in both games. The Carp won two games too defeating the Dragons. The Swallows beat the Tigers in the 2 games. From Aug 26, the Giants clinched the first game from the Tigers on Jose Lopez's RBI. The Giants failed to catch up in a 10th inning game the next day. The Tigers won on Mauro Gomez's 3 run home run. On Aug 28, the Giants starter Hirokazu Sawamura shut out the Tigers and was in tears, The Carp beat the Swallows in the first games, lost the 3rd. The BayStars defeated the Dragons in all 3 games.

The Giants clinched competitive games against the Dragons from Aug 22, with the first on Jose Lopez's game winning hit. The 2nd which began with Hayato Sakamoto's home run. However the Giants lost the 3rd game in which its pitcher Yuya Kubo faltered walking 3 in a row. The Carp's Kenta Maeda shut out the Tigers on Aug 22. The Carp won the next game too, but the 3rd game was taken by the Tigers. The Swallows beat the BayStars on Aug 23 and 24.

The Giants won a competitive game against the Swallows on Aug 19 on Shinnosuke Abe's 2 run home run in the 11th inning. The Giants lost the next game but clincehd the 3rd again in the 11th inning. The Tigers beat the Dragons in all 3 games form Aug 19. The Carp defeated the BayStars in the first 2 games but lost the 3rd.

The Giants won the first 2 games against the Carp from Aug 15, but lost the 3rd in which the Carp won on Shota Dobayashi's RBI. The Tigers beat the BayStars on Hiroki Uemoto's RBI on Aug 15, lost the next game and in the 3rd Uemoto contributed to the Tiger's win. The Swallows won on Wladimir Balentien's home run against the Dragons, but the Dragons clinched the next 2 games.

From Aug 12 the Giants faced the Tigers. The Tigers won on Randy Messenger's RBIs in the first game. The Giants clinched the next 2 games. The BayStars Yasutomo Kubo won his 10th game against the Dragons. The Dragons won the next, but the BayStars won the 3rd on Daisuke Miura's good pitching. The Swallows won the first game against the Carp, while the Carp won the 2nd game.

Shuichi Murata and Hayato Sakamoto homered to help the Giants defeat the Dragons on Aug 8. The next day the Dragons won on Ryosuke Hirata's 2 run home run. The Giants clinched the 3rd game. The Tigers beat the Carp the first 2 games and lost the 3rd. The Swallows clobbered the BayStars on Aug 8, but lost the next 2 games.

The Giants played against the BayStars from Aug 5 and lost all 3 games The Swallows beat the Tigers in all 3 games with double digit RBIs in 2 of them. The Dragons defeated the Carp in the first 2 games. Carp won the 3rd.

The Giants and the Carp played a game ending in a draw on Aug 1. The Giants won the next on Shinnosuke Abe's 2 run home run, but lost the 3rd. The Swallows won all 3 games against the Dragons with the first one on Shingo Kawabata's homerun, next, on Yuhei Takai's grandslam and the 3rd with home runs by Wladimir Balentien. The Tigers Kosuke Fukudome finished the game with a hit in the 10th inning against the BayStars on Aug 1.

The Giants on Jul 29 lost badly to the BayStars but won the next day on Yoshiyuki Kamei's home run. The Swallows losing streak ended at 5 when it shut out the Tigers on Jul 29. But it lost the next day on Takashi Toritani's RBI. The on Jul 31, the Swallows won on Wladimir Balentien's 2 run home run. The Dragons Yusuki Matsui slammed a game winning 2 run home run on Jul 31 against the Carp. The Carp won the next game. The Dragons won the 3rd.

The Giants continue to play poorly losing the first 2 games against the Dragons from July 25. But it won the 3rd game by taking Shinnosuke Abe and Shuichi Murata off the starting line up. The Tigers Hiroki Uemoto homered a 2 run to defeat the Carp on July 25, but the Tigers lost the next 2 games. The Swallows are doing badly, recorded its 5th straight loss on July 27.

After the all star break games resumed on July 21. The Giants played against the Tigers and lost the first 2 games. On July 23, the Giants managed to win on a wild pitch. The Swallows ace Yasuhiro Ogawa was back on July 21, pitched against the Carp and won. The Carp won the next 2 games. The BayStars and the Dragons had a draw in the first game. The Dragons won on manager Motonobu Tanishige's home run the next day. and won again on July 23.

The Dragon beat the Carp in the first game, lost to Kenta Maeda next, recovered the win in the 4rd game. The BayStars won all 3 games against the Swallows.

The Dragons faced its 5th loss in a row on Jul 8 in the game against the Swallows. Masahiko Morino homered twice to end the losing streak the next day. The Tigers continue to win extending its winning streak to 7 on Jul 9 by defeating the Carp. The Giants and BayStars missed the first game in Okinawa on Jul 8 due to the super Typhoon Neoguri. But it played the next day and the BayStars won on Taketoshi Goto's 3 run home run.

Hayato Sakamoto hit in 2 run and Shinnosuke Abe homered for the Giants on Jul 4 to beat the Dragons. The next day, it was a dramatic win for the Giants on Hisayoshi Chono's RBI in the 12th inning. The Giants won the game on Jul 6 too. The Tigers beat the BayStars in all 3 games from Jul 4. The Carp's Brad Eldred homered twice to beat the Swallows in the first game, but lost the next.

The Giants managed to beat the Carp on July 1 on Hayato Sakamoto's 3 run home run. But it was the other way around the next day. The Dragons won big against the BayStars in the first game, but lost in the next.

On June 27, teams played in their respective leagues. The Carp's Kenta Maeda started and was one of the pitchers to shut out the BayStars. The BayStars won the next day with a 3 run homer by Taketoshi Goto. The Carp won the 3rd game. The Dragons and the Tigers tied on June 27. The Dragons won the next 2 games. The Giants played against the Swallows on June 28 and won on Shinnosuke Abe's RBI, a 2 run home run by Hisayoshi Chono and Leslie Anderson's homerun.

The Carp played against the Giants from May 16 and won the first game on Brad Eldred's 2 run home run. The next day the Giants won on newcomer from Cuba, Frederich Cepeda's first home run.In the 3rd game Eldred grand slammed to beat the Giants. The Swallows faced the Dragons and won all 3 games. The BayStars won the first game against the Tigers. The Tigers Randy Messenger shut out the BayStars in the next game. The Tigers won the 3rd game too.

The Carp and the Tigers won a game each they played against eachother from May 13. The Giants lost all 3 games against the Swallows. So did the Dragons defeat the BayStars in all 3.

Carp faced the Dragons from May 9. Carp won the first 2 games, the Dragons won the last. The Giants too won the first 2 games against the Tigers. It lost the 3rd even though starter Tomoyuki Sugano gave up only a run. The BayStars defeated the Swallows in all 3 games and the final one, a game winning RBI in the 10th inning.

The Swallows beat the Carp in the first 2 games from May 6. The BayStars for the first time won 2 of 3 games against the Giants this season. The Tigers clinched a 12 inning game against the Dragons on May 6. The next day 19 year old Tatsuro Hamada shut out the Tigers, then on May 8, Masahiro Araki finished the game with a base hit for the Dragons.

From May 3 the Carp faced the BayStars, The Carp lost the first but won the next 2 games. The Giants Hisayoshi Chono and Shuichi Murata homered to help defeat the Dragons in the first game. The Giants lost the next but won the 3rd game. The Swallows won 2 of 3 games against the Tigers.

On May 1 Carp's rookie Daichi Ohsera hurled over the distance and beat the Tigers. The Giants managed to win on Yoshinobu Takahashi's 2 RBI against the Swallows. On Aarom Balderes sacrifice RBI, the BayStars defeated the Dragons.

The top 2 teams faced eachother from Apr 29. Kosuke Fukudome of the Tigers homered to beat the Carp and in the next game Mauro Gomez homered. The Giants on Apr 29 clinched a see saw game with Shunichi Murata's game winning RBI against the Swallows. The Giants lost the next game. The BayStars Sho Aranami grandslammed to beat the Dragons on Apr 29.

The Carps Yoshihiro Maru and Rainel Rosario homered against the Giants on Apr 25 and won. The Giants won the next game with a 2 run home run by Leslie Anderson. It lost the 3rd game on Brad Eldred's 3 run home run. The Tigers defeated the BayStars in the first 2 games but lost in the 3rd. The Dragons won the first game, but lost the next 2 against the Swallows.

The Giants Leslie Anderson grand slammed on Apr 22 against the BayStars and again won the next day. Carp beat the Swallows in all 3 games from Apr 22 The Tigers consecutive win ended on Apr 23 in the game against the Dragons at 6.

On Apr 18, Carp's Yoshihiro Maru homered, then Brad Eldred to beat the BayStars. The next day Shota Dobayashiblased a grand slam. However, the Carp beat them on Apr 20. The Giants won on Apr 18 against the Dragons with a 3 run home run by Hisayoshi Chono, lost the next and won the 3rd with an RBI by Chono. The Tigers defeated the Swallows on Apr 18 and won the next ilost the .

Carp in the lead faced the Tigers from Apr 15 and lost to Takashi Toritani's RBI and Shintaro Fujinami's home run in the first game.Carp won the next 2 games. The Giants lost the first game to the Swallows, but won the next 2 with homers by Shinnosuka Abe. The Dragons beat the BayStars with RBIs by Masahiro Araki and Kazuhiro Wada. Wada slammed a 2 run home run in the next day and so did Hector Luna homer for another win. The Dragons won all 3 games.

The Giants played against the Tigers from Apr 11 and lost all 3 games. The Giants fell to 3rd place. The Carp's Shogo Kimura hit in a game winning RBI against the Dragons on Apr 11. The Swallows beat the BayStars on Apr 11 and 13.

From Apr 8 the Giants faced the Carp. The Carp won 4 to 1. The next day the Giants won on newcomer Chris Seddon's 8th inning pitch. Jose Lopez and Leslie Anderson homered. On Apr 10 Giants Hayato Sakamoto blasted a game winning home run. The Tigers lost against the BayStars on Apr 8, but the next day, Matt Murton contributed with 3 hits. On Apr 10, Hiroki Uemoto's RBI finished the game against the BayStars. On Apr 8, Dragons Hector Luna homered, so did Kazuhiro Wada and beat the Swallows. Naomichi Donoue's drove in a 2 run home run the next day and the Dragons won again on Apr 10 with homers by Wada and Ryosuke Hirata.

The Giants Tomoyuki Sugano on Apr 4 hurled a shut out 8 innings against the Dragons. Leslie Anderson hit in a run to help him win. The Giants won a see saw game the next day in the 10th winning. But lost on Apr 6 in a game Seiji Kobayashi played catcher instead of Shinnosuke Abe out due to an injury. The Swallows Lasting Milledge hit in a 2 run home run on Apr 4 and helped his team defeat the Tigers. The Swallows won the next game too, but lost on Apr 6 in which the Tigers Matt Murton blasted a triple home-run. The Carp won its game on Apr 4 on Eishin Soyogi's home run in the 11th inning against the BayStars. It lost the next game, but won on Kenta Maeda's pitch on Apr 6.

The Giants played against the BayStars from Apr 1. Tetsuya Utsumi started. The game went into the 10th inning during which Jose Lopez homered an gave the Giants a win. The next day the Giants reversed the game it was losing with 3 homers in a row against the BayStars And adding runs after runs, winning with a total 15 runs. The Dragons beat the Tigers in the first game, lost the next, and won on Kosuke Fukudome's 2 run home run. The Carp won the first 2 games. The 3rd was rained out.

Giants opened the season playing against the Tigers at Tokyo Dome on Mar 28. The National Anthem was sung by pop group SMAP. The ceremonial pitch was performed by US Ambassador to Japan, Caroline Kennedy. The starting pitcher for the Giants, Tomoyuki Sugano who is also known as skipped Tatsunori Hara's nephew. For the Tigers Atsushi Noumi. The Tigers hit in the first run. The Giants equalized and with Yasuyuki Kataoka, and Cuban Leslie Anderson's home runs won the game. The next day the Tigers won due to a poor judgment made by catcher Shinnosuke Abe. On Mar 30,Kan Otake who joined from the Carp started for the Giants. He pitched well. Meanwhile a tragic play out in the field for the Tigers. Tsuyoshi Nishioka and Kosuke Fukudome crashed while running for the ball. Both were injured. The Giants won with a huge leading including a grand slam by Jose Lopez. The Dragons led by skipper cum catcher Motonobu Tanishige lost the first game to the Carp Ryosuke Kikuchi's RBI hit. It lost the next game too, to 2 homers by Brad Eldred. At last on Mar 30, the Dragons beat the Carp with 2 RBIs by Masato Matsui. The Swallows won its first game on rookie Naomichi Nishiura's 3 run home run against the BayStars. The BayStars won the next game. The 3rd game was rained out.
