Johjima tied the knot with the Tigers
On Nov 14, Johjima held a press conference to announce he is a member of the Hanshin Tigers. It's for a 4 year contract for a package worth 2 billion yen.

Johjima decides to leave Seattle
Kenji announced on Oct 20 that he was leaving the Mariners with 2 years of contract left. The reason given was, he wanted to be near his family and friends. He wished to play again in Japan while he was a top level player. On Oct 27,he announced, he is joining the Hanshin Tigers as the team was the first to contact him.

It's the 3rd game Johjima plays since recovering from an injury. He not only had his first hit. He slammed 3 hits including an RBI. But his team lost to the Yankees, 5 to 8.

In the first inning, his foot was rammed by an in-coming runner to home base. Despite in pain, he homered. But he pulled out from the game, and is expected to be on the disabled list. The Mariners lost the game 1 to 6 to the Oakland Athletics.

It's the 2nd game Johjima's played since he was released from the disabled list. In the very competitive game, in the 9th inning, he slammed His team clinched the 15 inning game with a 8 to 7 win over the Oakland Athletics.

Johjima officially became the first Japanese catcher to play in the Major Leagues. He was also on the starting line-up. He showed some good judgement to kill a runner sliding to 2nd instead of aiming home. In the 5th inning, he homered. However, the Mariners in the end lost 4 to 5 to LA Angels.

JOHJIMA officially joins the Mariners
He's going as Kenji Johjima. It's Johjima with an "h" as a member of the Seattle Mariners. He held a press conference on Jan 24 in Seattle, making introductory remarks in English. However, he asked that questions be asked in Japanese. He also showed his new uniform with a number 2.

Jojima is first Japanese catcher to join MLB
On Nov 21,2005 Kenji Jojima announced he has signed with the Seattle Mariners. It's a 3 year contract for 16.5 million dollars. The 29 year old award winning catcher had decided to become a free agent after his 10 years with the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks.
