Keirin races cancelled due to food poisioning
After the race on June 21 in Takeo-city, Saga Prefecture, southern Japan, 53 of the entire 90 racers showed symptom of food poisoning. 23 racers were actually taken to hospitals in the area. Everybody had dinner on the 20th and breakfast the following day at the cafeteria of their accommodation, and one of the plates on the menu is suspected of being the cause. The remaining 2 days of keirin competitions have been cancelled due to the incident. The incident has not only given many racer physical pain, the organizers have also fallen victims. Their hope to make 300 million yen has disappeared.
