Japanese captures all classes in Japan
In Japan's Suzuka circuit, the Japan Grand Prix was held on Apr. 9. Japan's star motorcyclist Norifumi Abe of Yamaha clincehd the 500 cc. It's his 3rd career win. His last grand prix victory was in the 1999 Brazil Grand Prix. In other classes, Daijiro Kato won the 250cc and Youichi Ui the 125 cc race.

Japan clinches first 3 places
In the World Grand Prix 250 cc race on Mar.19 in Welkom, South Africa, Japanese motorcyclists dominated top 3 posts. In first was Shinya Nakano on Yamaha. It was his 2nd Grand Prix win. Daijiro Kato followed and Toru Ukawa in third. Japan actually swept all medals in Malaysia in 1993, and in Japan's Suzuka in 1997 and 1998.
