DANCERS:3 Noriko Kumagai, Nakao Ikemiya, Hideyuki Okaniwa

This unit was established in the summer of 1996 by three principal members of the Dance Company Nomade-s: Noriko Kumagai, Nakao Ikemiya and Hideyuki Okaniwa.
This work is comprised of four scenes, wherein each dancer performs a solo. Having different backgrounds - Kumagai (dance), Ikimiya (performing arts) and Okaniwa (theater), the three performer's striking individuality is quite different from one another. This individuality is both in competition and at the same time complements one another.

"Enjoyment of the Twentieth Century," Junji Ito (Dance Magazine, December 1996)
Dance has changed dramatically recently, showing signs of new potencial in the dramatic arts. I was recently fortunate to see experimental works by three front-running companies: Pappa Tarahumara, H.Art Chaos, and Nomade-s.
I was moved by the avant-garde group called "Vivitra 1-5," created by Nomade-s and their primitive dance style. From the point of view of modern dance, it needed a bit more organization in the staging and costume, but from a purely "dance" perspective, it was perfect. In particular, Noriko Kumagai's expression was overwhelming. Her dance with Nakao Ikemiya and Hideyuki Okaniwa was as if a figure of the body.
